Admiral and aviva group has offered decent quotes for age anyways. Anything less that 1.8-2k plus all mods moods included in price is good for more. (London and youngish)

I called aviva my insurance at the moment and they were fine with acs springs being added. They didn't talk about extra money to pay. Just Admin I think.

Are ACS springs worth it on an M sport s drive. Apparently the drop is about 10-15 mm?

what is a pedal box?
Something that improves throttle mapping. For example, pressing the accelerator 5 per cent might act like you had pressed it 10 per cent.

Example of a pedal boxes: Race Chip http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1440139

So it acts like you have pressed the accelerator harder and improves drive ability but you are not unleashing any new found horses as you would with say an engine remap that gave you a boost of 68bhp or something.

It's not just the drop, the spring rates are higher also.

Thanks

ACS springs installed 3 days ago. Insurance did not charge me extra for the MOD. Maybe they are going to hit me hard on the renewal.

The picture was taken on the day, not sure if they have settled.

A next headache (Racechip vs JB4)

They don't settle except the first few metres of driving. It does look really low to my eyes, but without looking chavvy.

I had a heavily modified mk2 focus rs running just over 500 BHP and I was with sky insurance who are very mod friendly. The guy I spoke to was well clued up on his mods. I declared everything including cosmetic and mentioned about future upgrades to which he replied just phone up and add them on there won’t be any extra charge, which was true. Adrian flux is also another good modified insurance company I used to bounce off them both each year for a better deal. Funny this is they are both brokers and it’s the same insurance company

That's why you use specialists, they're generally cheaper than your usual insurers when it comes to modded cars anyway.

No I tried a few of them, they were horrendously expensive!

If you can't afford / don't want to pay the insurance for modifications, then simple - don't modify the car.

I'm sure you'd be the first to post to criticise your insurance provider if they refused a claim due to non disclosed modifications.

Just discovered this thread as looking to do a remap on my 30d. I worked in the insurance game for the last 10 years (until last Christmas) and my resounding advice is to declare everything. Insurers now are under increasing pressure from the regulator to treat customers fairly and to be completely transparent and fair. As long as customers do the same. Gone are the days of wriggling out of payment for decals or other nonesense but an undeclared remap will void your policy or face you with massive bills. Always get the insurance quote first and if you can’t afford it, wait for renewal and shop around until you find someone that will insure it for a price you are happy with.

Not worth the risk in my opinion but then insurance does make you quite risk averse!!

It’s an absolute no brainer.......declare every mod however minor you may perceive it is. I’ve heard too many horror stories of companies refusing to pay out leaving guys thousands out of pocket and with a HUGE black mark against their future applications. The companies are usually pretty realistic and reward your honesty with no or little increase in the premium. Not worth the risk......

Fail to be understand the mentality of anyone who doesn’t declare mods.

I purposefully insured my car with a mod friendly broker to ensure that when it comes to declaring mods & making mid term adjustments (to add more mods) that the profess is simple & the cost is fair!

For example my springs cost me a £50 increase on my premium but my wheels & tyres were added FOC.

I just called my insurer and they said it was an outright refusal to cover.

So I need to wait until renewal so I can shop around before getting those extra horses!
