I will absolutely reject my car if it doesn't come with the latest maps. It's a total nonsense that a vehicle with such an expensive nav system is delivered with out of date maps.

Has anyone had a new car delivered with the 2014 maps installed?

Surely im within my rights to demand the latest version right?

Yes, absolutely. No need to get arsy with them, just say that you noticed the maps are last years and would expect the latest. They'll say they are, you'll tell them they aren't and quote the part codes in this thread. They'll say you get what comes from the factory and you say for the price you are paying which is 10x a tom tom, you want it up to date. Cue hard stare.

Yes, mine has 2014-1 maps installed from new.

Not sure where you stand with getting the new maps installed, but I got the impression form my dealer that they would have updated them if my car had have had 2013-2 from new...

I spoke with BMW Customer Services yesterday and asked them if they could tell whether my vehicle (which I've yet to take delivery of but is now at the dealers) had the latest maps on it. Their response was that maps are "officially" released late Jan early Feb each year. Cars come with whatever maps are "officially" available when the car is built. Evidently, this theory is inaccurate as we have seen people taking delivery in December and receiving 2014 maps. So, it does sounds as though it's luck of the draw which maps you get.

I don't know if all factories switch to 2014 maps at the same time or what.....

Based on what I've read here, my car SHOULD have 2014 maps when I get it. If it doesn't, I will make a stink as I'm not paying £2000 for a nav system that has obsolete maps....

It's amazing how clueless the BMW staff can be. The maps have never been released in Jan/Feb - always Oct/Nov for the following year.
