Sport Mode question
Just got my 428i GC. Got a couple of questions that I hope you guys can help me. For daily driving, I prefer to set up my Sport Mode for CHASSIS only. So in instances when I flip the shifter to Sport, does that have the exact same effect as if I had Sport Mode for both CHASSIS and DRIVETRAIN?
Also, is there a way to set the car to start in Sport Mode as default? Thanks!! |

I don't have DHP so I had to get my car coded so I can "cherry-pick" my Sport modes: 1) drivetrain + chassis 2) drivetrain only <---- think this is what you're looking for 3) chassis only

If you don't have DHP then what does chassis only do? Just change the steering? I haven't tried out changing the sport mode before because I didn't think selecting chassis only would do anything.

Unless you have the Track Handling Package or the M SPort Package (with the addition of Adaptive M Suspension) there will not be much difference in the "Chassis" selection. Without the Adaptive M Suspension, the "Chassis" option only changes the DSC threshold.

Yes, the steering is a little "heavier" in chassis only mode while drivetrain remains in comfort mode.

Is there a way of uping the weight in sport, or comfort, mode? It isn't that heavy tbh. It's weird, in my previous audi the steering was heavier at highway speeds than parking lot speeds, which made sense to me but my car, maybe it's a BMW thing, seems to have lighter steering at highway speeds than parking lot speeds? |

Not the normal BMW characteristic for servotronic steering. The power assist should progressively decrease as the vehicle speeds up.

Thanks. But I think this part of my question hasn't been answered yet: "I prefer to set up my Sport Mode for CHASSIS only. So in instances when I flip the shifter to Sport, does that have the exact same effect as if I had Sport Mode for both CHASSIS and DRIVETRAIN?"
Thanks for your help. |

Yes I do, and I have it set up like that, Chassis-Only in Sport Mode. My question is when I have it in that setting, in Chassis-Only Sport Mode, if I then flip the shifter to sport would that have the same effect on the entire car as if I had the Sport Mode in BOTH Chassis and Drivetrain??

If you put your dynamic handling config to both Chassis and Drivetrain you will have increased throttle response as well. |

If sport mode drivetrain active then shift points are raised AND throttle response is altered. If only pushing shifter to left, shift points are raised but throttle respond remains the same.

and if you put the car in sport + and move the sifter to the left, you get the most aggressive combination, it seems.

Can you code the car so that in comfort mode the VSS/steering would be set to sport (I love the stiffer steering). I hope that question made sense.

Not that I know of, but if you switch modes enough it does make the occasional mistake and leave the stiffness in comfort mode.
