Brakes and side blade info needed
Morning all, I'm going to replace my discs and odd tonight at home after the little one has gone to bed so was just wondering if I need anything more than the usual jack, tools and copper slip? Mainly asking to find out what size and style of fixings I need to remove I.e pin torx etc?
Also while I have the car in the air I will try and fit the side blades but I don't know if all the fixings are on the car or in the box the blades came in (or if I should have ordered some as well). Any help would be appreciated as I won't get around to doing it till it's late so will need to borrow the old mans tools whose a 30min journey away. |

Only fixings you need to remove are the pad guide pins, 2 hex bolts on caliper & 1 allen bolt on the disc.
For the skirts you are best to use these rivets: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190472745592 |

The fixings included with the side blades are rivets that require a rivet gun to fix. I used the fixings as recommended by Teaston but got them from the dealers who should have them in stock. According to the instructions you need 17 fixings per side and a 6mm drill bit. I got 20 rivets for around £4.

Well that was a win fail. The rivet gun I had to use the BMW rivers was too small and I smashed my phone screen. So no blades on yet, going to order the other rivets but we do have discs and pads. I must say the performance discs give off a strange sound, almost like the old clackers you had on your bike as a kid!
Also is it right that the discs are identical so that they don't both 'point' the same way with the hole/cut pattern? |
