New Car
Hey all,
I have the option of jumping into one of these cars - which would you choose and why please? 2013 Audi S5 Coupe (V6T Engine) 2012 BMW 335xi sedan 2013 BMW 335xi coupe (not yet released) 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Coupe 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG Sedan They are very similarly priced, in terms of monthly payments it works out in order from least to greatest: BMW<Mercedes<Audi As for preference for 2/4 door - doesn't matter to me. No obligations with kids, etc. If you have any suggestions for other cars, please let me know. I am looking at around that price range. I am currently driving a 3.2L Audi A5 Last edited by KMANUEL; 03-16-2012 at 07:38 PM.. Reason: Added my car |

C63 AMG Coupe (or Saloon) in a heartbeat! That car is simply unrivaled unless you want an M5. The M3 in my opinion doesn't come close to the lunacy, sound and fun that a C63 AMG brings. Yes, in every measurable way the 335xi is better to drive but thats why the AMG is appealing - its stupid, yet makes perfect sense. Drive one, you'll see! The Audi is a no-go for me if you are considering a 4wd best in class car.

Go for the new M3 for sure! That is gonna be a class act!
If you have to choose from the list, I'd go for the C63 AMG, either the coupe or the sedan (would prefer the coupe)... Good choices though, wish u best of luck! Enjoy man!

If you need AWD then i would go with the S5 because Audi is really good at that. If AWD is not required then opt for BMW 335 RWD because bmw is a lot better at making rwd than awd.
the c63 is a uncontrollable beast.

The Mercedes might be a beast but no matter how much beast it is, I don't like the looks and wouldn't pick that one. It would be between Audi and BMW for me and I think BMW will win in my case

Hey all,
Thank you so much for your replies. The reason I am not considering an M3 is because it is an outdated body and I'm not ready to drop that much cash and be driving around in a generation old car. In terms of the C63 - it seems like a great option on paper but I am a little worried about the lack of AWD as well as the 6.3l V8 gas guzzler. My job requires me to travel around many areas of ontario (at least a 2h commute daily) and I fear as if I might be putting myself at a disadvantage in terms of cost + safety. I was really debating between the S5 coupe with the V6 engine. It has the same engine as the S4 and from what I've been reading, its better than the 335i. However, audi is really frustrating with their prices and fairly ever discount. I got my A5 at 500$ below MSRP. This is a major put off since I got my 535xi for 6,000$ below MSRP. What do you think of the E350 coupe 4matic from that list? Last edited by KMANUEL; 03-16-2012 at 09:20 PM.. |

If you're willing to wait for the 335xi coupe to drop, then you might as well just wait because I'm sure the prices will change, along with your choices of cars in general.
I've had a B8 S4 for almost 2 years now, and I was never nearly as fond of it as I was with the F30 in just a few hours lol. With that said, S5 is outta the question. With safety in mind... drop the C63, it's a car where safety comes AFTER fun, and practicality. E350 4matic... lol. With MB, it's AMG... or it's nothing. Unless you're someone who doesn't care for cars to begin with and simply want it for the "status". Get the F30 335xi to meet your needs. Personally... I'd get the C63, but since ur questioning RWD, stay away. Having a RWD V8 for a daily requires confidence, and knowing the limitations...beyond limitations, especially for AMG's. |

These cars are not even comparable. The AMG's both have 150 to 180 more horsepower than the 335i. The s5 has 56 more horsepower and is a lot more expensive. If you're considering a AMG, you should be looking at the M3, not the 335. Price range comparables for a 335i are the Audi S4 and the Mercedes C350....neither of them are 10-15K more expensive. |

He's most likely leasing the car, so the prices could be reasonably within range. |

No leasing would make things even worse. BMW lease great, Audi and AMGs do not, plus the BMW is the cheapest. I think OP'er is yanking our chain.

I hear lease numbers on weekly basis, from customers with new cars, and friends in the leasing business. At the moment, the F30's are being leased at full price due to demand. I don't know the technical lease rates, but most around my area calculate the tax, first month, and fees into the payment, only pay bank fees and registration dues at signing. So far I've been hearing nothing less than $719 for the 335i Sport/Prem/Parking. Audi is having specials on their 2012 models due to facelift arriving shortly so S4s Prem. and S5's can be obtained from mid 600-800 fully loaded. You can also run into specials within the first 1-3 months of a new generation or a facelift release. C63's get hit with specials only several times, and right now is their time again. You can scoop one up for around $850 right now, if you have connections you can score one in the 700's... Eitherway, it's hard to predict lease #'s. they all varie based on the city you live in, and the connections you have for updates and latest deals, some specials last a few days, some a few months... for several weeks around the end of 2011, the F12 650's were going for mid 800's and 900's for F13's. Leasing is a crazy market, you don't know what connections or hook ups he has, so the cars he chose can easily fall within their price range. OP states he drives an A5, for the price he probably leased it for back then... he can easily pick up any of those cars he selected as his next. |

I suggest that you forget about the C63. Gas tabs will ruin your experience if you are using it as a daily driver, specially in Canada.
I would pass as well on a S5 because I wouldn't want twice the same body (you have an A5) but that's just me. Why not the S4? If you could live with a C63, a RWD, you can live with a RWD 335i IMO. I live in Canada with a RWD and I would do it again, for the Xth time; TC/DSC system does an hell of a job. Another key factor is proper winter tires. |

Thank you so much for your replies. I posted this question on the audi forums and received two replies. They're not very receptive to these types of questions.
To the member that said I'm "yanking your chains." - Right now, I can choose between all of these cars and have a very similar monthly payment - It will not differ by more than 100$ (Canadian pricing). I agree that the S5 is the same body but here is the way I look at it: - I loved my A5 body and that is why I paid pretty much MSRP for the car when it first came out, as well as waited for 6 months for it to hit Canada from germany. - The only thing missing was power from my car... the 270 hp v6 just wasn't pushing it for me. Aside from that - the car was an effing beast in the snow. I put Blizzak WS-60's on it and it was actually unstoppable. I didnt even care about the weather forecast when leaving. - I have the option to jump into the FACELIFTED model... with the S4 engine, Double Clutch Transmission. It's faster than the 335i... and it has DCT. Only downside is its pretty much the same interior. As for the S4... nahhh. Drove it... style doesn't appeal to me as much as the A5/S5 series. I think I'm ruling out the C63 primarily based on safety. I'd rather safety over fun if I had to choose. I'm between the 335i and the S5.... |
