FEM_BODY Problem - Help
Hi,
Was happily coding this evening but during my last transaction, something went wrong, an error while coding FEM_BODY. Since then, impossible to code that ECU again. The error I get : Transaktions-Report: Aktion: Codierdaten lesen FEM_BODY [40] [ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ] readCPS o.k. cafd_ffffffff-255_255_255 Fehler: File for "cafd_ffffffff-255_255_255" not found! [C012] Any tip on how to resolve this ? I do have a backup of the corresponding CAF but I have no idea how to write it. It seems to tell me that since it's missing from the SVT, it can't write. |

Problem solved using the SVT editor and CAF file name for ID, mainversion, subversion, patchversion (thanks to the coding with E-SYS manual, p39 onwards)
So lesson learned : code only one feature at a time ! Last edited by benoa; 11-28-2013 at 07:22 AM.. |

This corrupted CAFD though did not happen because of coding multiple features at one time, rather it most likely occurred from a power loss during coding, which is why you should run the engine when you are coding. If it happens again, an easier alternative to the SVT Editor is to just use "Detect CAF for SWE" coding function, and select CAFD from latest I-Level shown to inject it into ECU.

Now I remember : I ended up with a low/no memory warning for E-SYS after it corrupted FEM_BODY ! So memory was the culprit. After increasing it to 1512Mb (default was 512 if I recall correctly), no more issues.

The default is 512 Mb. I always change it to 1024 Mb.

Instruction for what exactly? Increasing E-Sys RAM or you have File for "cafd_ffffffff-255_255_255" not found! [C012] error?

Just inject new CAFD into ECU, and VO Code it. Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired ECU => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown => Select OK => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

Yes, much easier than manually editing SVT.

Shawn - where do you increase RAM for E-Sys? I'm familiar with the concept (I work with Java apps frequently), but I'm not sure how it's done on this app.

E-Sys => Options => Settings => Program Tab => Set RAM (Mbyte) field to 1024.

Hi All,
This is my first post, so please go easy Thank god I found this post and thanks to Shawn for the solution as I have the same problem (power loss during coding.!).. I have one question though.. If I run through the same process to restore as below, will I loose all the settings that are currently held in the FEM_BODY CADF? Thank you all.. really appreciate any help you can give to get me out of this hole.! (Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Left-Click on desired ECU => Click on "Detect CAF for SWE" => Select the CAFD from latest I-Level shown => Select OK => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE) |

Thanks Shawn. Just so I understand, when you say "reset to factory settings", do you mean it will reset back to the settings that were in the car when it was delivered to me from the factory?
Or do you mean a 'blank' configuration, and I will have to add all the settings that were added when the car was built? I do not mind loosing my custom settings (I only changed one before the power loss), so can easily re add this (with the engine running this time!!) Apologies if this is a stupid question |
