That's lucky. Although it appears there isn't much life left in that tyre though?

I'm on 15500 in my X5 now and the rears are just about 3mm and the fronts 4mm. I've got a slow puncture in one of the rears so have to top up with air now and then but am holding off on replacement as the advice is to do all 4 at the same drive due to the xDrive diff. I'd like a few more miles out of them before a full change. Can't really complain with the life of the tyres given the abuse they've had!

That's kind of how I feel, can't complain.

Odd that my fronts are marginally lower - but that could have been the track day!

I have to say, I wonder if the rears being low lead in part to how it 'popped' on the motorway today; a dramatic noise for sure. No unstable handling despite my speed at the time, I was waiting for the chime which came up after 2/3 seconds 'low pressure' followed by 'drive carefully'. I then checked and was surprised to read '0' on the pressure!

Mighty impressive the runflats got me to my destination and back (90 odd miles) safely. At 60mph on the motorway the tyre temp hit 68 degrees so I came home avoiding motorways!

Not a single tyre in stock in Swindon for an X5!

Got them down to 985 for Dunlops or 1100 for PZeros.

May go for the Dunlops as there supposed to be a little quieter (68 vs 73dB)

Wow that was a close call! Definitely no chance of a repair

I know it's not for some but I do value the ability to drive with a puncture and sort it out later, especially at night or in the rain.

The issue is getting a new tyre at short notice. I guess you have the 21 inch wheels which are probably harder to find than the 20s on my standard M-Sport. If they weren't staggered I'd be tempted to keep a spare at home in case I needed to do a quick change.

You raise a great point - everywhere I called (from Newbury to Cirencester) immediately said 'we don't stock X5 tyres' when I gave them the size so it seems they are rather specific.

Mine are the 20" also, so it was nearly a call to the recovery guys.

Funny thing, I was just pricing up tyres in the morning before I left home as they were due. I hadn't decided on RFTs or not but this made up my mind. There is no way you could be faffing with a spare at the side of the road - just too big and cumbersome.

Just wondering what you went with in the end. I'm looking to swap mine now and am struggling to find the Continental Conticontact Sports I have OEM. I need to stick with run flat so it's the Dunlops or some Bridgestones.

Any idea what the difference between the SP Sportmaxx and SP Sportmaxx GT's is - apart from the tread pattern? Seems the economy is rated differently and also the noise level. Both seem to be the same price...
