Angry Coal Smell in new 2014 F30

Since I've taken delivery of my new car, it has been smelling like coal inside. This happens with the A/C on or off. I don't know if it's the materials or the A/C. Some of my friends say it might be the charcoal filter, but I think it's the leather. I've tried burning essential oils for hours in the car to kill the smell, but nothing works. I've also wiped the leather down. It always comes back. Anyone know?

better take it to the dealer. A wire or something might be burning inside.

also try leaving a chunk of charcoal in your car. it will absorb all the smells

Take it to the dealer but how long have you had it? I believe its not uncommon for there to be some odor from the cosmoline and other oil protectants burning off. It was barely noticeable on mine however. Regardless take it to the dealer.

I've had the car for about a month and a half. I'll add it to the SA checklist.

Yes - try charcoal to get rid of... coal smell?

But seriously, my new GC has the stinky oily smell from the vents that you are probably talking about also - if you find a solution (other than waiting for it to go away) update this thread!

Did you check the bottom of your shoes?

Just how bad is it? My take on dealer visits is to keep them to a minimum. So often they break as much (or more) than they fix!
