Doesn't this argue that the "generic" Bluespark box is by far the best bang for your buck option at only £150? Seems a no-brainer. Can you tell my car is coming tomorrow?

Based on the fact it (from a quick read) is increasing the rail pressure: yes, it's the best bang for the buck... until your car starts throwing error codes because it's fooling the ECU into over pressurising the rail (meaning it affects all stages of the injection process, all the time - which isn't what you really want). At least that's my understanding.

I was certain I wanted a dual-channel box, was looking at Bluespark but opted for Spider Performance - with discount of 30% using a code got it for £260, so given its dual-channel i.e. boost and fuel rail, its actually cheaper than Bluespark's pro boost dual channel version.
It's a high quality bit of kit, and whereas with the Bluespark to change the settings you have to remove and unscrew the top, with the Spider it has Bluetooth so you can change on the fly on your phone from the driver seat. I've found this incredibly useful as one of the maps has more lower down torque which I find great for motorway driving etc, whereas another map is more mid-high range so I choose that if going for a blast. You don't have to keep on opening bonnet etc. to change the setting. Hadn't heard of them until recently, but must say I'm incredibly happy with it, and the customer service, and would highly recommend. |

True, Steinbauer is the exception in this regard. But personally for me the price of the Steinbauer unit isn't worth it - I'd rather get better gains with a £399 ECU remap from superchips, obviously warranty goes out the window though so you take a risk...
All the other tuning boxes still fool the ECU, but the dual-channel boxes give better gains by also being able to alter boost. Even better would be a third channel for MAF sensor, but I'm not aware of any box that provides this for the 330d or 335d yet. |

That's surely going to be a warranty on their work rather than a warranty on your engine going pop though isn't it? There's a reason for the cost difference between the ACS tuning box (box + engine warranty) and the Steinbauer box, even though it's the same hardware for oil burners.

As I understand it's a proper warranty i.e. if your engine/turbo/gearbox goes pop as a result of the remap then they will cover it - I guess the tricky bit in these situations if something goes wrong is proving that it was the remap that caused it. But I guess the same can be said of the tuning box warranties.

I've just ordered the Bluespark CR Tech2. Just wondering which setting people would recommend it be run at? (Hope this doesn't start a debate about how bad tuning boxes are etc)

It's not a monumental gain, but enough to notice, so worth the money. |

Cheers lads. Yeah ill wait to hear back from J335D as those dyno results show a really smooth graph with a relatively inexpensive piece of kit. Will get mine on this week hopefully
