We have a 2016 428i GC and it seems to have much less wind noise than our previous 2013 328i. Had a couple of whistling issues with the 328i: The left A pillar molding around the windshield would whistle at highway speeds - the replacement took care of it. The drivers side door molding would flutter at speeds above 80 mph, the replacement solved that. The 428i seems to be more solidly built with no creaks or squeaks (yet). I notice that the open space between (inside) the front fenders and the front doors is also now sealed with a rubber molding gasket and the doors shut with a more solid sound.

I guess I'll chime in. Took deliver of a new 2016 340i. It has a whistle noise coming from the front of the vehicle at 60+. Does not appear to be any wind noise coming in. It's with Charlie at McKenna right now. Lol

It looks like the part measured is actually one piece that includes the vertical seals at the window edges, so a new set of seals could work wonders. |

Was the dealership able to fix it? If so, can you tell me what the fix was?

I think I can still hear the turbulence off the mirror if I go radio silent, but overall the wind noise seems subjectively to have dropped at least a bit, maybe a couple dB. |

Your issue sounds like the front windshield left and right molding which I'm surprised is still popping up on a 2016 model. Many of the complaints of wind noise is at the upper front edge of the B-pillar and unfortunately, there does not appear to be a resolution other than getting something other than the 3 series. I have a 2013 and just came from test driving a 2017. The 2017 is as bad, if not worst than mine at the exact same location as mine. Even the salesmen admitted to it. Every person that sits in the passenger seat of my car reaches for the window toggle as they think the window is ajar. I have a few months left on my lease and will not be getting another 3 series. As much as I like the LCI improvements over mine, I won't be getting another specifically due to wind noise. Hope you can find a solution, but many here have tried many things to no avail.

http://paultan.org/2016/03/30/driven...still-keep-up/ I wanted so much for the LCI to address the noise issues, but unfortunately, that did not seem to be a priority to BMW, so I'm struggling with what to do in the coming months when my lease comes due as I've been a BMW driver for many years. I did just inspect the mirrors and a pillar windshield trim everything looks perfect... may have to bring it in I don't see anything that would take in air and create the whistling sound.
Regarding audi/merc and others maybe they do offer more tomb like quietness and "luxury" but the bmws are the only ones I want to get in and drive like a mad man every time out the driveway. The rest feel lethargic and delayed in throttle response, I tried to like a cls550 but so boring. Audi has never felt balanced to me to run hard from a stop thru a turn or even spirited switchbacks. BMW seems to have the greatest recipe albeit quality and materials have been taken down a notch in favor for a bunch of tech that's not really useful to anyone. |

I hear you. It's important to me as well. I can tolerate some road noise and engine noise, but to me, rattles, creaks and wind noise that I can greatly reduce by pressing on the upper rear corner of the glass is totally unacceptable for any vehicle. Just points to poor quality and fitment. I've also noticed the panel gaps and seams are about twice as wide on my car than on many other cars. I find myself checking it out each time I park beside another car. My lease is almost up, so I am no longer pursuing these issues with my dealer, but good luck with yours.

I get excessive wind coming in near the drivers tweeters whenever my sunroof is tilted open and I hear and feel the wind when I go above 65. If the sunroof is closed, there's no wind or noise at any speed.

You seem to be one of the lucky ones. I've driven half a dozen F30's in search of a quiet one and they all had excessive wind noise even with the sunroof closed.

Broke down and bought a 2016 435 M-Sport. Although the car is so much more refined and solid than my 2013 328 was, there is still wind noise above 50 mph. What I do notice though, is what I perceive as wind noise changes with varying road surfaces. I think at least some of the wind noise is being contributed to by the road surface noise. I'm sure it is not a seal issue on this 435 as they seem to have added seals everywhere, but the more I think of it, I'm wondering if it is possible its the thickness of glass itself, or not acoustic glass?

ok, very interesting observation today which confirms my previous post! I was driving on a particular highway today that was paved about 3 months ago and noticed as I transitioned to this highway, the car goes EXTREMELY quiet. Not only did wind noise all but disappear, the road noise was next to nil. This confirms to me, what I have been perceiving as wind noise, is actually road noise. Has anyone else noticed this?

i have a 17 340 that whistles noticeably starting at around 45mph and up, sounds like it is coming from near the drivers side A pillar but hard to tell
the noise is definitely there, every time i get it up to that speed I also drove a 16 340 for a year and did not have this issue at all at any speeds way faster than 45mph |
