All i know is that they feel great and heat up fast. My hands are very sensitive when cold so im loving this feature. The whole wheel feels to me like the heat is evenly distributed.

The settings are probably ambient temperature dependent?
Take it to Alaska and 3 LEDs mark would give more heat than if you are in LA. I m taking a wild guess but seems plausible. It might be too much to call adaptive heated seats. You perceive heat slightly differently as well, depending on what you wear.

3 bars is super hot for me and even 2 bars is a little too warm. I guess it's fairly subjective but even the steering wheel heater gets too hot for me.
It's been hovering around freezing here. When I get in the car in the morning (shivering by then) first thing I do is 3 bar the seat and turn on steering wheel heater. By the time the engine has warmed up on my commute I have to turn the seat down to 1 bar or it cooks my ass. I am not wearing any cold weather gear, just jeans. Maybe clothing is the difference? |

Just had my car taken in for service (335 sportline) and its was a cool morning (in the 20s). My car with the sports seats heats up in about a minute and I have to turn the thing off because it's too hot, even on the lowest setting.
The loaner car (328 modern line - no sport seats obviously) seems to exhibit the behavior some mentioned in the thread. Seat took awhile to heat up and didn't get nearly as warm as my car. Not sure if it just varies car to car, 328 vs 335 or sport seat vs other, but there was a definite difference. I wont even get into how much better a fully optioned car is than one with none. I don't know who would buy a 328 with few options but I'd rather an altima or many other cars given the $40k price tag. The loaner cars suck... |

I have a 328i loaded with Msport (which comes with the sport seats!), Nav, heated seats, moonroof etc. A fully optioned car should make no difference to whether the seats get warm enough or not. I could have gotten the 335i but I opted for the Msport over the 60hp difference between my car and yours, but thats me. FYI my car's tag reads $46,595 |

I ordered heated seats as a standalone option on my 320 and I'm in LA. My GTI had them and I used them all the time. My back is wrecked half the time though so it is nice for that and I like driving home from work late at night with the windows cracked but the seat heaters on. Can't live without'm

Yes the heated wheel is awesome. I read recently that contrary to popular belief, the greatest point of heat loss is not your head. But that a disproportionate amount of body heat is lost through your hands.

All though this is irrelevant to your post, but am I the only one who thinks that our cars should come with heated seats when you get premium package or even basic models! I wish i had heated seats

You and me both amigo. The 320 I ordered was w/heated seats as an option but then the one that popped up locally that I ended up getting came w/sunroof and not heated seats. Sunroof is cool, no heated seats is a bummer but I'll live.

To correct my earlier thread about not having the heated steering wheel on the 435 - it's definitely there, on the steering column to the left is a push button to turn it on/off. Duh.
