Autocar test two Skoda Yetis to see which works best - winter tyres or four wheel drive.

4 * 4 loose, Winter tyres all day long, who needs to spend extra money on 4 * 4 unless in a Farm truck.

What they really needed to do was to do the same type of test but with RWD and four wheel drive. As well as winter and non winter tyres. That would have been interesting.

AWD and winter tyres will be the best, as there is traction, braking and car control.

But the test clearly proves the point of misplaced confidence in AWD, rather than the correct tyres for severe winter conditions.
