Was driving last night and the sensor alerted me that my right rear tire had a low pressure reading.
Pulled over to the gas station and saw a large nail in the tread. Brought it over go Bmw store and Brian Jessel and they both do not have the 19 inch Pirelli tire in stock. They said the tire will arrive in a week. Do you guys have any recommendations to places to get a new tire? Hate to be stranded for a week... Thanks |

Thanks for replying, went to Burrard store first and then to Brian Jessel. Called auto west but no one has the Pirelli.
I guess I have to leave it in the garage for the week. |

5-10$ kit at Canadian tire to plug the tire ... pull the nail out, then clean up the hole, insert the cord, light it up and then fill with air to the right pressure.
no need for a new tire when you just get a nail in the tread. |

Assuming you haven't driven 100+ miles on a near deflated tire, RFTs can be repaired just like a non RFT. Find a tire shop willing to patch it (or use combo patch/plug (especially if puncture is near sidewall). Repair should be done from inside.
And punctures near the edge of tread can often be repaired and will hold much better on an RFT due to the stiff sidewall. The reason why tire shops won't repair a tire with a puncture near the sidewall is due to the flexing that will eventually cause the repair to fail. And they won't typically repair a RFT tire AT ALL because they cannot be sure how long the owner has driven on it. One last thing, make sure the tire shop you use has a leverless tire mounting machine. The RFTs and these low profile tire designs are VERY difficult to mount/dismount using a typical old school tire mounting machine. Basically, if you see a tire mounting machine with a manual bar used by the operator, RUN and find another shop! The big risk is severe damage to the lip of your wheel.

Pirelli has one year warranty on the runflats. I has the same situation about a month ago. Called Pirelli and confirmed. First year they replace the tire. Free. Had it all done at kal tire. I only paid 100.00 sine I has already 17k on the tires. BMW could not help me much. They even did not know about Pirelli warranty.

The dealer is just not good. Go to kal tire or other tire shop. They did a great job. The process is simple. Tire shop or dealer takes a picture, email to Pirelli and next hour it's approved. I had it done in a day.
