Installing Rieger front lip

Ordered Rieger lip in gloss black from Autohaus24 three weeks ago and picked it up yesterday. Almost $100 less than ESE Tuning.

Installation instructions are in German but after reading thread posted by Betlion, it doesn't seem like it's too complicated. My only concern is that installation requires use of rivets and I've never used a rivet tool before. I don't want to mess this up so any advice is welcome.

I believe the rivets referred in the posts are pointing to the expanding rivets that can be installed by hand (BMW Part #51118174185). You can find a picture of them here in another DIY install of another lip/splitter:

Can you post a pic of what the rivets look like?

install the lip initially with the 8 traditional screws. once the 8 screws are in, you can then install the rivets with a drill & rivet tool.

The screws make alighnment and initial install easier. The rivets are heavy duty and pull the lip tight and snug. super secure.

are you jacking the car up or have a lift? I was able to do the entire install with the car on the ground. I bought a right angle drill bit adapter made for tight spaces.

Thanks Ryan. I was hoping you would chime in. I don't have a jack so I'll probably get the right angle drill bit adapter. Since I don't know how to read German, I wasn't sure if the "5mm" on the instructions is referring to the drill bit size, rivet size, or both. Are the rivets supposed to fit through the holes or does the rivet tool push the rivets through drilled holes that are slightly smaller than rivets?

The thick end of the rivet should be able to snugly insert into the drilled hole. The tool then extracts the pin and the rivet pops tightly together and pinches the lip to the car.

Youtube a few rivet videos and you'll get the idea.
