I checked my CAFDs and I have the exact same setup as you. I just had a look underneath the trunk and I do in fact see a combox.

What exactly do I need to do to enable the use of the white iPhone cable? Was it just the line you edited under combox media?

CHAMP has dvd, but F30 (& the rest of the current BMW range w/bus nav) uses CHAMP 2 which doesn't have dvd drive.

It's under the trunk cover in the back.

Take the trunk floor cover out completely (it just slides out) and in the back you will either see a combox, or an empty space.

i tried the secondary method suggested by shawnsheridan (thanks!) and changed my vo order from 6nh to 6nk. follow the 3rd supplement guide at the beginning of the thread to do this. once i wrote the vo, then i went to the affected ecus (combox and hu_cic) and highlighted each one, and clicked code (not fdl code). the code changes were implemented automatically and the car now does bt streaming and music over regular usb! thanks for all the tips and help everyone.

perhaps it is because I select STD:OBD and Com1 during installation?! wich port I must select, to use INPA and Tool32 with a ENET cable on the LAN port?

I get my new F30 only on March 15, so I have to wait for test!

If you have HU_CIC, and you have CMB_MEDIA in your SVT, you have a standalone Combox ECU. It is not necessary to check for its physical presence on the the car.

If you have the new HU_NBT, you will not see CMB_MEDIA in your SVT, as you do not have a standalone Combox ECU; however, you will have a Combox built into the HU_NBT Head Unit.

Would you be able to post the parameters you changed to enable BT streaming and to get rid of the Y-cable?

Thanks!

He did not change any ECU parameters directly.

He modified his VO by removing 6NH and replacing it with 6NK, and then he VO Coded HU_CIC, and it automatically handled all the required FDL Changes.

Is there a guide on how to do this or would I need someone else's VO to load this on?

Seems like dos1973 was able to modify a parameter on his COMBOX MEDIA CAFD to get his iDrive to read his white iPhone cable.

clarence, i think you're correct. i have nav but no assist, and i had a combox that supposedly required a y cable and only allowed bluetooth streaming of phone calls. changing the vo gave me all the additional functionality. except i'm not certain if i can get text messages to show up. i suspect i'd have to add 6nr and go through all that stuff to get it to work? coding the vo for 6nk did seem to add an 'office' menu, but so far all thats in there is my contacts, no messages or any apps.

Thanks but I remember one of you instructing dos1973 or someone else to search for this castrated combox.

Reason I want to check is there is an actual combox ncd file generated when I read my car.

I have also heard from other sources that they were able to get BMW Live/internet enabled too with this car configuration. So they were able to get the bluetooth audio streaming work, get rid of the y-cable and get internet working! but i guess one step at a time

Hey, would you be able to tell me how I can change the VO to 6NK? So you're able to use BT streaming and also use the regular iPhone cable?

Thanks

The general directions are quoted from his earlier post. The PDF is on the first page under attachments, supplement part 3. You literally change the text in the SALAPA-Element Box from "6nh" to "6nk" and then you apply the changes. He is gonna work on getting maybe screen shots later regarding the ECU stuff.

It was me who asked dos to check for the existence of a combox, cos he had 609+6NH (i.e. no combox function) but he managed to code the 6NH into virtually a 6NK. We all know 6NH cannot do a 6NK w/o addtional hardware, so I asked him to see whether he really has combox with features deactivated.
Bearing in mind that dos is from Germany, the info from members from other countries such as CDN & USA who also have 609+6NH means so far that this spec combination will have a castrated combox.

See this Guide on how to modify your VO:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/attach...3&d=1358466555

If you follow this complete, you will have written the modified VO to the car at the end.

So, afterwards, you simply do this to VO Code the Head UNit:

Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read VCM => Right-Click on HU_CIC (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

yes, this is all i did to make it work. just for clarity in case you are confused, the ecu appears as a folder in e-sys, with the cafd files beneath it. highlight each affected ecu (in my case hu_cic and combox) and code them.

I'm running into a few issues when trying to recode anything after the FEM recall with 48.3 and 3.18.4.

For example -

FEM_BODY [40]
cdDeploy ProcessedWithError
cadf_000000794-004-124-042 Not Executable.

I get the same thing in HU CIC
I checked the post below that had a similar problem a few months back and found the SVT appears to looks fine.

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...12324765...357

I'm a bit stuck. I believe I'm on F020-12-11-505. One difference I noticed is that when I update the CAFD I don't get the little yellow dot next to the CAFD that I used to.

You are connecting to F20 Target PSdZData without the _DIRECT after it, and via VIN?

Did you delete and replace your existing PSdZData folder with the 48.3 one, or did you copy it on top of your old one?
