I can also see the LED lights reflection against the door handle surface, something I never noticed before. Switching to normal color (orange) made an even more noticeable difference against my coral red interior.

Here is the code that needs to be changed:
FEM_BODY / 3070 / AMBIENTE_NACHFUEHRUNG from aktiv to nicht_aktiv
Definitely did not get any brighter on my car. I think its in your head

I managed to get the lights to show up by doing what someone suggested in here. Turn everything off and raise "interior light" bit by bit in iDrive then turn up the dash lights. Its not as bright as my 335ci but better than nothing and you are right amber is better than the white light

Here are some pics as requested cant keep out of the car! Any excuse and I'm off again

The inside picture did not come out clearly so will take a pic another night and post later

Thanks for the help!

Ok Guys let revive this thread.
I'm really upset on this very dim light on my 13 f30 black interior. I don't think is the interior color. I just got yesterday a loaner (black interior too) but 15 328i and the door ambient light is really bright. You can see the entire strip reflection. On mine I only see a reflection on the door handle because is a polish silver. They definitely change something on year production.
Now, anyone has retrofit this light? I think the 2015 version will fit on the old one as they are f30.

I have the black leather interior in my F31 330d M Sport (May '14 production) and the ambient lighting strip above the handle/armrest on the door is barely visible at night, whichever colour option is selected.

My previous car was an F11 530d with an oyster/black interior and the ambient lighting was a lot brighter. The much lighter interior colour allowed the ambient lighting to reflect off the coating on the leather. I don’t believe that the ambient lighting in my F11 was any brighter per se than it is in my F31.

I’m afraid that for those of us with black leather interiors in our F30’s/F31’s, the ambient lighting option is bound to disappoint.

I am totally perplexed by this. In my coral red interior with the Sport lights (white) on at full brightness, I can clearly see them. Of course I have nothing to compare it since I have not owned a BMW in a long time but I think if the lights were any brighter they would be a distraction and not be ambient anymore.

Mine just reflect on the door handle because is shiny, otherwise i won't note it at all.

I will take a pic tonight when it gets dark. I see the light clearly on the door panel.

Thanks for the help!
Quick question, how are your interior lights "that white"? They're warm white/yellow on all other 4 series.

Thanks

The ambient lights look great on coral red. In cars like mine, with black interior, they are almost too dim to notice.

I had the setting on sport and the ambient light is not very noticeable on coral red interior.
However, on classic setting, it compliments really well and look great. I recently added the F30 LCI AC trim and now the total ambience is really nice. I have ordered the B pillar airbag lights and wiring to add more to the overall ambience. Can't wait to complete this.

I really like the B pillar ambient lights too but it sure looks like a lot of work. I am really hesitant to remove panels because it just seems things never fit as well when I put it all back together!

Can you please verify that part #s you ordered?

I followed this thread posted by Timbits93 :
http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1037655
I asked my local Stockist to verify and order accordingly. I have not found an installer as my initial checks seem to indicate that the mod will certain to require new wiring. I notice you have a F36 so do check if the parts apply to your car.

If you car is no-line that would explain why.

BMW must have done something because the ambient lighting on my loaner 2015 320 is MUCH brighter than on my own 2013 328... Both black interiors...

Photo from my loaner

So damn bright...

EDIT

Well I did a quick investigation on RealOEM...

63319242150
From: 11/01/2011
To: 09/09/2014 (ENDED)

63319353133
From: 03/01/2014
To: Still in Production

Looks like the LED Module had a part change...

Looks like some people over on the RU forums have figured there is a difference as well

63319242150

63319353133

It's definitely interchangeable since they have ended production of 63319242150. I wonder if the dealer would be willing to warranty them, given the stark difference.

That might explain why I think in the highest setting my lights are pretty bright. My car was produced 11/14.

They are interchangeable and much brighter than the old ones.

I changed mine on my 2012. Lookin stunning now.

Cost about 16 Euro per piece and the installation Is easy within 10 minutes each door.

63319353133 is the correct part number and they are plug and play .
