Thinkware F770 Install
I had a thinkware F770 installed on the July 1st. I asked the guy installing if he could route the cables thru the bottom of the door sills and move the camera away from the DAB antenna. He confirmed this when he finished. Next day driving to work ..no DAB.
Called Chameleon and James was very helpful and said they would sort it out. He confirmed that the tech had routed the wires thru the door sill and not the roof and sent some extra ferrite clamps for the next guy. Today the guy turned up and started removing the cable that had been routed along the head liner and not the floor as asked. Also the cable (5ft) had been bunched up around the antenna. I’m thinking great this will be sorted out and left him to it. !5 mins later he comes to me and says he wants to point out that as its a newish car was i aware i had some damage of the passenger door sill. Suddenly over night i have several large scratches! He’s denied it straight away. I told him where to go and called chameleon. I now have a senior tech guy coming over on Monday morning to install and investigate the scratches. I cleaned and polished the car less that 24 hrs ago and not a mark on the car. I’ve never had a passenger and no one has ridden in the back. The only time the passenger door is opened is to clean it. I’ve spent £350 for the DAB to be knocked out and have a guy scratch the car! And NO CAMERA!!! I’m also waiting around for 3 mornings when i could be earning. I’m not impressed at all. Right now I’m thinking....take your camera...full refund and pay for damages. |

That is terrible customer service, I'd definitely be demanding they sort the scratches and compensate your inconvenience.
How can a professional make such a mess of a car? |

How did he manage to get scratches back there? I've popped those kick plates off and you don't have to go out that far with the right plastic trim tool.

Absolutely gutted for you. Who was the guy that you sent away?
Chameleon seem to be pretty straight, so I would expect them to help you. I'm still having DAB issues with my F770 but will try and fix that this weekend by adding the anti interference grips. Hopefully that will make a difference. If you need the details of the guy who fitted mine, drop me a PM.

Second guy was Brian. He was a chameleon installer. As he said...I'm not a contractor, i work for Chameleon. James at after sales has been very good. Its the guys they send out. Why would you work on the car for 15 mins and then knock on my front door and say did you know your car has scratches on the passenger door sill. If you care for your car you know every single mark. Its only 9 months old and there are plenty of marks but no small scratches let alone BIG. |

Just goes to show how incompetent people can be. I am an engineer but I'd never pulled any bits off a 3 series before I installed my Blackvue front and rear cameras.
To be honest if they can't do this quickly and without damaging anything on your car they really must be totally incompetent. It is not a difficult job. Took me about 3 hours start to finish including running the cable front to back under the door sills, hardwiring to the battery and fusebox and setting up the camera software and wi-fi link. Feel for you Chaser. Dave.

Looks like he sat there with jeans or tools in his back pocket while untucking the cables at the top.
Not impressive at all.

Bloody idiots.
Feel for you there Totally unacceptable that the first guy lied to you like that and did such a poor job and the second guy damaged your car. Let us know how it goes Think the real issue is that the contractors which is what most of them are I presume are paid a relatively small amount compared to what you pay for the install. Therefore for them it's a case of bang them on and move onto the next one. Am proud to say the guy who did mine when he had to come back and sort out the Mrs 1 series described me as " the fussiest customer he'd ever done an install for "- made him several brew and watched and insisted job was done the way I wanted it to be done. Bloody lack of professional pride and integrity

Chameleon have called regarding repair and compensation.
They will pay for scratch and nothing else. The guy said its not our policy to reimburse for things i have not had to pay for. I drove to BMW on 2 occasions to drop off an pick up car. BMW had my car for 3 days. I've had to meet with there guys 2 extra mornings due to there mess ups. Hand around an afternoon as the installer decided it was best to install in the afternoon and not morning as it fitted in better with him going down the pub. I cant stress enough......DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY. INSTALLERS AND CHAMELEON DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU OR YOUR CAR. |
