Roofrack f30 compatible with e90?

Hello

Does anyone know if the roofrack (2 beams) for the new f30 are the same as the e90 brackets on the roof?

And can anyone tell/measure the centre to centre distance of the front/rear roof beam?

Many thanks

I am using my e90 roof rack on my f30. It is the stock roof rack.

One rail fit with no modification, and the other rail, the one that fits in the front of the car, had to have the slots widened in the aluminum bar by 1cm to fit the wider spread of the f30. This modification took me 10 minutes. I'm glad I didn't listen to those saying it won't fit because e90 roof racks are widely available used for cheap.

Based on how the e90 roof racks adjust, if the f30 racks are designed the same way they will fit the e90, but as I have never seen an f30 roof rack I can't say for sure.

The feet on these bar sets are not a fixed width. They can slide an inch or so in either direction. A screw near each foot adjusts this length by binding in a channel. Since the f30 is wide, the modification (to the front bar only) is to widen the slot near each foot by 1/4 inch. You can use a round file, which would be a pita, or use a drill bit the same size as the slot.

I'll post a pic of the mod tonight.

You can see where I lengthened the slot with a drill bit. All you need is to be able to slide that screw a little further over.
The channel on the bottom is already long enough.

Reviving this post from the dead, as I came across a set of e90 racks and bike carriers for $50. Thanks for the instructions, these racks fit my f30 well!!

FYI these are the part #s for each piece:
Roof Racks: 82710403104
Bike Carriers: 82722326514

You'll need a security torx 30 bit, extra long, to attach these to our cars, or the special BMW roof rack tool (82790392011). Had to massage the entry hole to get the torx bit in, but nothing too major.

I just learned a painful lesson....I have the Thule rack with the fit kit to fir my e92 m3...,,I just purchased a CPO f32 and researched that all I need is a different fit kit and I can use my same bars.....to my chagrin, the fit kit for the f32 has pretty much the same exact parts except for the rubber boot pieces.....paid $109 a fit kit that I really did not need.....oh well.....fit kit for e92 m3 is Thule 3039 and for the f32 coupe is the 3028....only difference between these kits turns out to be the rubber boots and he difference so are very minor.....

Man I could really use these pics right now. In the process of looking to buy a new base rack system for my F80 M3... and I'd love to just get a used one for an e90 if it'll work. I'd love to see how it was modified though... does anyone else have any info on this or have done it?

Sounds like all he did was lengthened the slot where the screw slides by a 1/4 inch on each side.

Bringing this thread back again....
I just did what others said to just lengthen he aluminum slot to make the correct adjustment. Worked perfectly.

Now my slight issue is that the black plastic part where the mount connects to the car is touching the roof or extremely close to it. In fear of to rubbing the paint away.

Anybody else notice this? I see they sell Roof gutter protectors pn: 82792406019 or I was going to grind /cut off some of the plastic to make more of a comfortable clearance.

Finally got around to the gutter/paint protectors. Not much of difference in clearance but I see there are multiple different types of gutter/paint protectors depending on vehicle. This is on an F80 with e90 racks and PN 82 79 0 392 010 protectors not even tightened down
