Why can't I have dark wood in a 3 with sport line? Or is it possible to get the M suspension in a non sport line?

i just build mine and its coming to just under 46k. Im really really really upset about it. I know its a wonderful car and everything but give me a break with these option problems. I want what i want. Add on another 3k in taxes and its a 50k car just like that for stuff that comes standard on other cars.

I agree. I feel like the most non tacky interior IMO is the grey leather w/ aluminum trim w/ black piping. But I'm not sure how I feel about the grey..Would it add that much to BMW's bottom line to offer wood trim, brown leather and a sports suspension?

To be honest I like the black gloss and I wanted it here in the US for a long time but the red interior lines that come with that option are tacky as hell. The only option not to get those stupid red / blue lines is to get the aluminum and I've never liked that.

seeing these prices makes me really reconsider buying a 28i Z4. I'm sorry but some of the option prices is just ridiculous and I don't want all the stuff.
And the 'cockpit' just looks really busy and I prefer a simpler and less 'toy' approach. Since the less you have, the less can break. And I was punished enough by electronically gremlins in my past cars... Also to need to get ZPP for dimming mirrors or CA, is just silly. Just give as an overview of all the options and we can tick the boxes we want and provide packages with some things combined for cheaper. So that everybody is happy. You might even give us boxes to take stuff out of the car like: 'I don't want power seats in a 335i, it's going to be a track car someday or so...' I mean a 3 series loaded pushing 50k$ for stuff you don't really need or will break all the time. Like 5-6 cameras, I'm waiting for the dreaded 'camera malfunction message' Anyway, sorry that my first post is kind of a rand and thankfully still have 14 months time till I have to decide what to buy (2013 summer ed) and for them to fix things. And I want a 328 with dual pipes... I love the look... |

These lines are really constricting. I really like the modern line exterior bits and I love the turbine wheels but I could never live with that dark oyster dash and wheel. If I go sport, I would only get black leather, but then I'm stuck with the red stitching.

That's true... but the M sport package also has an incredibly hideous steering wheel that I couldn't live with.
Also the price differential may not be worth it solely for a wood trim.

There is an obvious reason why a loaded Honda Accord is $30K and a 328i is close to $50K. Just drive them back to back. And I'm not being snobbish, I own and Accord, too |

Got to pay to play. If you just want a bunch of options and tech and don't care too much about the ride there are much less expensive cars to be had.

Basically, the Luxury & modern lines just require you to pay $3300 for opportunity to pick more interior options...while $1700 for Sport gives you limited interior choices, sport suspension, with option to buy M suspension & sport automatic w paddles for more money.

A 2008 M5 for $50k. This configurator has been annoying me for a while, not just bugs in the F30 which is acceptable on day 1, but various option selections in all lines come back with no image or options have disappeared, like a manual 535i rwd.

Ick, the world's worst single clutch flappy paddle or a handicapped manual in a 600 pound heavier car? No thanks. V10 is great, making it move forward is painful. Of course out of warranty repairs on a dry sump V10 would quickly separate the true cost to own of these cars too.

Pricing seems fine and comparable to E90. Sportline 328i with Premium, Cold Weather and Xenon's for $44,145. Pricing remains very similar to MB and Audi, I guess I don't see the issue. Still waiting for final F31 and M Sport pricing, but I'm pretty happy with pricing.
I have no interest in the 7 series derived and much heavier 5er, plus the 528i not being available with a manual means it's not really comparable to a 328i for me, and the 535i wouldn't be much quicker than a 328i, and it certainly isn't comparable in price. |

I thought I might be interested in the Modern line, but after seeing photos of the interior, I've changed my mind. An all oyster interior looks perfectly okay. So does an all black interior. But I think that mixing the two together looks ridiculous. Instead, I'm now looking at the Luxury line or the base F30. When you order a black interior on either of them, that's what you get--not a two tone monstrosity.
The great Hollywood mogul Samuel Goldwyn was famous for using phrases that seemed to make no sense and were laughable. But even though they sounded absurd, they often really did make sense. After seeing the Modern interior, I repeat one of those phrases--"include me out". Last edited by sekitori; 01-13-2012 at 10:59 PM.. |
