Motul 300v for N20 Platforms?

Hi,

Just wanna check, has anyone been using Motul 300v (or 8100) for their engine oil?

How is it? I am coming to the last year of my warranty, and is starting to look for better alternatives...

I came from using Motul on my track car, so I am wondering how Motul perform on our BMW...

I'm guessing that one of us will have to be a guinea pig to test this oil out on N20.

I've heard (and believe it's possible) that changing from one oil to another can be somewhat of a shock to the motor. The factory/dealer specified oil is good stuff, why change?

Factory BMW oil is GARBAGE compared to Motul. Black carbon/varnish deposits, ticking lifters, Valvetronic and VANOS faults, etc are common on N51/N52 engines. It is false that changing oil is a "shock" to the engine, too.

Use 8100 5W40 XCess, BMW LL01 and ACEA A3/B4 approved, cheaper than the 300V line which is more for track and race engines. 300V has higher concentrations of additives that may foul catalytic converters over extended use (80-100k miles).

We've used Motul in hundreds of BMWs for millions of miles over the course of more than 7 years. They are always clean inside, quiet valvetrain / VANOS operation, street or track.

what do you think of Motul vs. the Liqui Moly or Meguin. as I have used Motul and it made the engine sound very very rough

never ever use racing oil for daily cruiser!! 300v is the racing oil! 8100 is fine, but its not a longlife oil.
strongly recommend Castrol Edge, Torco SR-1, Mobile1 and so, the 4th group synthetic oil. it will clean your engine, reduce emission, and prove fuel eco. Do NOT use ESTER oil for your daily driver.
