TLDR - does the weather/clock widget still work on split screen with expired connecteddrive? because mine seems to

I picked up my 2014 335xi a few weeks ago, and when i was first fiddling with it, i went to bmw widgets on both main and split screen and could see a list of options including clock/weather. I tried going back in to that menu a few days ago and all i get is a 'no service' error. I've tried many times since then, always 'no service'. If from there i go to options -> 'go to start page', it shows something like 'could not load start page, please verify url and try again'.

I know you get 3 years free (confused as to what exactly is included) and i believe the original owner took delivery in early january 3 years ago so it probably expired, but the weather app continues to work fine on split screen. If i select bmw online widgets, it gives the error (on either screen) but when i back out the weather always pops up (only on split screen).

is this normal to be able to use weather when bmw online shows 'no service'? any light you can shed would be helpful.

ok i'll try this another way - for those of you with expired connecteddrive, select 'bmw online widgets' on split screen, does the weather come up?

Nope, not for me.

it is part of connected drive if you pay $50 you get weather and news and a few other apps. $50 bucks more gets you live traffic so $100/yearly is not bad for those services if you want them.

No. After 3 years, complimentary services expire. I did add back Real Time Traffic Info for $50/year.

There are other, better, ways to get the weather forecast. Don't sweat it.

it seems to have expired but the weather widget still works which is the weird part. Every time i go to bmw online it says no connection and if i go options>start page it says subscription not active or expired, but alas, weather still works. still confused but thanks for the replies
