F30/31 refinished interior trim - anyone any experience?
I'm really tempted with the OEM F3x M Performance interior trim; the alcantara / CF stuff but it's not cheap...
I've also seen these sets via eBay; hydro-dipped and TBH they look really good on the pictures But wanted to see if anyone has first hand experience of these sets at all? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184116804...4AAOSwJPxeC1MS

I don't think so, but I can't tell as the link doesn't work!
So maybe you failed the first test before the test even started? |

This is a similar set from them: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/185787890412 But found similar from a UK provider in Sheffield; it'd feel better keeping the money in the UK TBH https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/295652658...IAAOSwlWljC9P8

It's wrapped. The problem with vinyl wrap is orange peel and scratches, it's plastic at the end of the day so non of those are avoidable realistically.
If you're happy with a printed image on plastic then go for it. I have nothing against their work, I see it advertised in many Facebook groups, however I have never understood the appeal. The alcantara is a stretch fake suede and the carbon fiber is essentially one big sticker.. I think the general attraction to carbon fiber is for its depth and contrasting shades, something you won't get without physical carbon strand and built up epoxy. Totally understand everyone has differing opinions and tastes - personally I would save up and either buy the oem kit second hand or have someone carbon skin your existing trims.

They use slightly different weaves. The only reason I ask is OEM is a good 35-40% more expensive than carbon skinning. If you use someone with quality work you could get really good results. I have always opted for carbon skinned trims purely because the weave I wanted isn't available in OEM parts.

The dry carbon on OEM uses a slightly different weave fabric, however I've known people to manage it. You just can't go crazy on resin layers as it's all about leaving the weave some depth before matte lacquering it.
