[Q] Worth Buying JB4 to stack on top of MPPK? '15 435i
Hi all,
Just recently picked up my Glacier Silver '15 435i MSport/MPPK/MPE, and am looking to start doing some mods, possibly with the JB4. However, I already do have MPPK and MPE, and have a couple of questions.. 1) From what I've read, the advertised gains from JB4 will not stack on top of the MPPK (Part #340 w/ 335hp/332tq). However, will I get any gains from using JB4 on stage 1? Planning on keeping car fairly stock for now, but could add a downpipe later to run higher maps. 2) How would it drive? Is it smooth, or jerky? (Shifts, throttle, turbo lag, etc.) Would the added JB4 on top of MPPK be noticeable? 3) How would it affect the MPPK/MPE and burbles on overrun? I do like the pops and burbles, so I don't want the JB4 to take that away. Please let me know, thanks in advance. |

The short answer to your question is YES, the JB4 will add a fair amount of power over your MPPK/MPE. Before I went with the DP on my similarly set up F30, I ran the JB4 on Map 1 and had no issues with burbles. Once I added the DP and ran Map 5, my burbles are much more noticeable. It's my humble opinion, but I believe that you'll eventually get a DP and run Map 5, along with the EWG cable.

The gains are noticeable, just put the JB4 on map 5 and it will figure out the correct boost

Thanks for the response! Unfortunately, car is a CPO so can't add a DP without voiding my warranty, so I don't think I'll be able to. Any estimate on what Map 1 gains would be? Considering with the MPPK, it's advertised at 335hp/332tq. |

You won't "void" your entire warranty, but you may be turned down for a warranty claim that could be related to the DP. If you have problems with a fuel pump or some of the electronics, there shouldn't be any issues if you have an aftermarket DP, particularly if you remove it before taking your car in.
