Depends on tire diameter

But should be around

1) 2643 RPM
2) 2101 RPM

Hmmm,

My 325i (17" tyres) does a tad over 2000 in 6th. I would have thought somewhat less that the above as 7 & 8 are less than 1:1, which I understand 6th will be on the 8 speed sports tranny.

Please correct me if i'm wrong. Nice to read your posts again. It's been a while since I was active here. Thanks E90Fleet.

Cheers

I put the numbers in a online calculator and thats what I got

The E90 325i Auto is listed as 6th 1:0.69 with a Final gear of 1:3,73
The F30 328i Auto is listed as 8th 1:0,667 with a Final gear of 1:3,154

I'm hoping someone (E90Fleet?) has some info he or she can share about some of the more obscure options available on US F30s.

For example, what the heck is 5AP, which is listed on my build as "Decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance"? Or 6WA, "Instrument cluster with extended contents?" Love this one: 8S4, "Variable light decoding." That takes me back to disco-era nightclub light shows.

And, since it only costs US$90, I threw 8TH, Speed limit info" into the order, though I have no earthly idea what it is or does.

Another thing, does "smartphone" mean iPhone only? What about Android phones? I ordered 6NL and 6NR (enhanced Bluetooth and BMW Apps) which includes 6NF - Smartphone integration, but can't find anything that describes what phones are supported.

Would love to know more about these infotainment/integration options if anyone can enlighten me.

Not sure if some of the above are typos, but here is some Google translation output of this doc...
http://www.bmw.de/de/de/newvehicles/..._pricelist.pdf
  • 5AC (5AP typo?)- High-beam assistant - automatically dims the high beams when it detects glare from oncoming lights
  • 524 (8S4 typo?)- Adaptive Headlights - better illumination of the curve, variable headlight range control for city and highway driving including turning lights integrated in the Fog
  • 8TH - Speed Limit Info - camera-based detection of the currently applicable speed limit and the additional characters
  • 6WA gives you an extended display on the bottom half of the instrument panel and in the bottom wedge of the tach and speedo dials. Behind the dark translucent material there is a large LCD display that displays a lot of different content.
  • 6NL - Mobile phone preparation with Bluetooth connectivity and USB devices wireless connection of compatible mobile phones with the vehicle, including hands-free. Prerequisite for using the services of BMW ConnectedDrive including BMW Assist (including automatic Emergency, more comfortable information service, roadside assistance). Operation via the iDrive Controller, functional bookmarks or speech Integrated into the vehicle, a separate SIM card for BMW and BMW Online telematics services. Including Emergency call button.
  • 6NR - BMW Apps - iphone only
  • 6NF - Music Interface for Smartphones - for convenient connection of mobile phones with integrated MP3 players in the center console,

Most smartphones should support the Bluetooth connectivity but specific features are dependent on the BT profiles they support. Android phones support the A2DP profile for streaming music files and I think iPhone does as well.

With 8TH, the current speed limit will be displayed on the HUD panel

I do not know everything you get with 6WA, but the brochures seem to show this panel exclusively. Attached pic shows example. Without 6WA, I believe the EfficientDynamics is a physical pointer indicator.

OK, I found some more pictures from the gallery post that shows better what 6WA - Instrument cluster with extended coverage is.
  1. First picture shows the panel off - black panel mode.
  2. Second picture shows with the lights on and ready to start.
  3. In the third pic, you can see the symbols behind the black screen that can be illuminated. At top, lane departure & blind spot warnings, DSC and tire pressure warnings in the middle, and idiot lights under the speedo, etc. Most of these are not from the LCD. You can also sort of make out the size of the LCD panel.
  4. In the fourth pic, you can clearly see the LCD coverage is the small rectanguar section, mostly under the tach.
  5. UPDATE - found halfway decent pic from f30post NAIAS coverage with base panel (I adjusted contrast a little)

FYI, the initial F10 had a similar small LCD panel standard.
From ~March 2011 onward, if you order the HUD ($1300 standalone option), you also get a full black panel, as shown here.

Compare these 2 pictures with the first 2 pics in my previous post.

Wow! Thank you!!

5AP isn't a typo. It's listed as "decoding for no-dazzle high-beam assistance". I guess I'll figure out what that is when I get the car.

I would be interested to know what are the wheel offsets on the new F30, especially on cars with a staggered setup.

In addition to the question above:

I see in the ETK that the wheel bolts are bigger than on an E90 (M14x1,25 in stead of M12x1,50).

Does this automatically mean that rims from an E90 won't fit?

Unless the thicker bolts, the PCD, Centre Bore and Offset are the same as far I can see in the ETK.

N55 Performance Edition Retrofit Kit

Why has there been no discussion about using the existing N55 Performance Edition Retrofit Kit recently introduced for the E90 335i (increases horsepower from 300 to 320hp and torque from 300 to 332 ft-lbs) for the F30 335i? Isn't this upgrade easily adaptable to the F30 as well? Even with BMW not including it for free, shouldn't the upgrade be immediately usable for the F30? What am I missing here?

You are trying to assign logic to the equation, and that's not how they operate. Perhaps they are saving it for the MSport version, maybe there's a 335is in the works. Maybe they just keep it in their pocket until the midcycle refresh then try to sell it to the 3-4 year old models as a retrofit. who knows.

But seriously. . .

This $550 BMW upgrade is publicized for the N55 engine in either the E90 335i or the 135i, and obviously will work equally well for the N55 engine in the new F30. BMW has already put this product out there for us. Why aren't people talking about this obvious upgrade in the forums?

There are 4 modes, ECO Pro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The first 3 are standard on all cars. Sport+ is included with Sport Line, sport automatic transmission, adaptive suspension and variable sports steering. In other words, you need to get at least one of these options to have Sport+ mode.

Best regards,
