Fog lights are superfluous. Also, wouldn't fog lights obstruct air flow into the two bumper intakes? Is having two additional and unnecessary lights worth running the risk of overheating (or throwing a CEL)?

The M-sports look so much better without fogs. Not really sure why anybody would really want them for other than looks at night. They are not bright enough to assist in driving at night. If you feel like spending the money to repair the broken ones, go for it.

The "fog lights" we've had previously have all been clear with wide, flat beams - more to throw light to the sides than forward, and aimed lower. I enjoyed having them when driving on the back roads where we have herds of deer just waiting to surprise you. But the M-Sport has extra radiators (one coolant, one oil) behind the right- and left-side grilles, with a duct to bring cool air to the brakes. I suppose if one wanted to forego those ducts, fogs might fit. Personally, I'd rather have the additional brake cooling in this hotter climate.

Interesting question, I want to install 6-series LED fogs on my M-Sport a la LTMW's red F30 but need to know if the harness is installed in the US spec car (no reason to make two harnesses right?)

Classic. At first I wanted fogs when I first ordered a year ago. Right now, not so much. Had fogs on the E46 and used them a handful of times in 10 years, so I think I am good to go. Stupid thing about BMW's "explanation" is that the E90s had the offending lights on the MSport and I do not recall any overheating issue being publicized.

I haven't had any lights on the front of the broken in almost 30 years of driving in the UK. I think the front end on cars looks nicely balanced with them. The back end must have pairs of lights too, can't stand not having 2 fogs and 2 reversing lights. First mod I did on he Wife's E46 vert was to add the near side fog light on the back.

I have fogs on my msport (was sportline) and it still gets the brake ducts, the oil cooler ducts and what would be the other cooler if it were originally an msport has full airflow going right to it. The car is low and I drive fast. Fog lights are perfect. Bmw's excuse for not using them is dumb. I personally love how contoured in and the shape of the holders look on an msport with fogs. Much better than without IMO. To not get fogs because one can break or to pay 500 dollars to replace one is horrifying. Can prob have it done for a couple hundred on the off chance it ever happens. My 2 cents. If the op wants them, get them. I think he'd be happy.

Not a realist either, drinking the glass of water while not caring of its condition makes you an opportunist.

Those look good, small enough not to interfere with add'l coolers. The LED ones off 6 series look wicked.
Where did you get them? How much extra wiring was required? Did the factory wiring already there? Hows effective are they for driving lights? |

Who pays 500 bucks to replace a fog light. have them on my F30 and had them on my e90. As I recall it cost me a whopping 39 bucks to replace a broken fog on my e90 with an ebay replacement fog that matched perfectly and took me all of 30 mins to do the job. The real sadness here is folks who can not do anything to their car except pay others to work on them and rip them off.

One of the best mods I've done and they look amazing day or night. Not only did I want DRLs that enhanced the look of the car, but they are extremely functional, bright, and light up the road with ease. They are wired to be on all the time, so no on/off switch. In addition, I had them wired to remain on, even with the high beams. Folks coming in the opposite direction, probably don't like them, but it does add another level of visibility. It was clean job in relation to how they are wired and you only see the relay under the hood. |

@Ron Scott, I just found out that the fog lights comes on US 328d ///M Sport. I am going to the dealership this Wednesday how much it cost as I am interested as well.
