Anyone else hate seeing their car look more 'used'

Four weeks ago it was brand new.

2800 miles in and I've had it washed about 6 times, hoovered it out twice and have even used some vinyl care for the rubber window seals to keep it fresh.

But, the inevitable is happening and the odd stone chip, tyre wear and tiny dust particles are all taking their toll on an otherwise pristine machine.

Other than detailing it I can't do any more other than to post a meaningless message on here to see what you lot think.

Inevitable really. The more you drive it the more it's going to age. Enjoy it while it lasts. Or get a new one.

Another chance to post a picture of my.... Only joking lol

Posted a picture of my car just after it was detailed in the winter thread, 2 months old. Looks nothing like that now. UK is probably one of the harshest environments for a car with our weather and crap roads.

I think i'm an addict to the new car smell and although I don't wash mine as much as i'd like to (time being the biggest factor) every time I do wash it i see another scratch, chip etc. I hate it - one the one hand I wonder if I should just get something a lot older that has already been worn by time, but on the other I think i'm still as bad with every new chip and scratch that appeared. It's my curse!

I'm in the same boat. Car is five weeks old. Would like to keep it in the like new state, but then I've paid so much money, I'm definately going to drive it. In fact, I'm off now for a drive!

What annoys me most is after I've hoovered it out I'll get in it and my soles transfer gravel and other bits in to the interior.

At least I'm not alone though.

Having a garage in my neighborhood will cost you about $1.5 million, so I have to park on the street, under trees.

I die a little every time I leave it for the night...

That's the biggest problem.
I always seem to attract them, I park further away in the supermarket rather than trying to get rought outside. No one round me, loads of spaces, I come back and some dick wad has parked a POS right next to me.

Not even remotely close, to the point of being exactly opposite to the truth..........but funny to see how good us Brits are at turning things into a negative .

I think most of us are in the same boat, I've got mine for 7 months now and while it's only got 3k in it we've been using it every day mainly in town therefore I stress myself every day where and how we park(no parallel of course) also do full valet on it at least once sometimes twice a week which takes 90 min. + even use the best microfibre cloths( different one for interior, exterior even for the engine bay or wheels) plus put on the seats to avoid them to get shiny from regular use so I really pamper it the best possible way. I even managed to get resprayed the front front bumper under warranty as I had some bad stone chips on it(there was some tiny imperfection from factory which I told them I'm not happy with) but at the and of the day it will not stay brand new forever, I'm just struggling excepting it. My wife the other hand thinks it's just a car ant it's there to be used and serve our needs and she's right. I know I've got issues but I can't help it, at least I'm trying

That makes me fizzing too. I park my car on its own at the end of the car park and some idiot parks their POS right next to mine when there are at least 20 other spaces nearby!

A couple of months ago a 12 year old Ka parked next to me and when I got back to my car I noticed a significant dent in my car along with the identical blue colour of the Ka. I left a note telling the owner to phone me or I would go to the police. I never received a call and did phone the police but they stipulated it was just an accident and nothing they could do. So, so annoying.

Three months or so ago I picked up my nearly new 320d with 800 miles on the clock, it was like new not a mark anywhere and still had the new car smell.

I have been washing and hoovering it at least twice a week trying to keep it looking as nice as possible, probably 25-30 times so far. I have also polished it twice as well. Now 12000 miles later I have a few stone chips on the bonnet, drivers door mirror housing and windscreen. And yesterday while parking I clipped the edge of my nsr wheel on the kerb, bugger.

The novelty might be wearing off now. The wheel has gotten me down. And now the car is older and being used everyday I'm also getting more dust on the high gloss black interior trim finishers and I am dusting them 2 or 3 times a day.

It might just become another car soon

You think it's bad now; Wait 'till the gritters come out and you have to decide whether to drop back or drive past with gritted teeth...

Wash and Polish it then apply Armorall shield and it will come up a treat. Put it on all surfaces except windows.

Not harsh as in extreme, but I think because we now (due to climate change) get a good 4 seasons, it's ages a car more to go through the different weather.

In the past is always whizz past. Now definitely drop back... Maybe even overtake them in the hard shoulder...

Exactly, you want a harsh driving environment try Scandinavia. You have it easy in Britain. Cars stand out all night in -15 to -30C, then drive heavily salted roads, try driving behind a lorry on a freshly salted highway!

You don't even need Winter tires!!!!!!

Yes I've done that in frustration but not a great (or legal) option. Also I've waited for an artic to come past and shelter behind that...

I've done that before, or if it's round residential roads I'll dive down a side road to miss it. Would also consider pulling onto someones drive, but haven't done that yet!

Better that the car is starting to look used, rather than your missus......
