Yeah but den I heard dat he wrapped it round a tree so, now he's drivin a hellaflush civic DX with steelie spinners and a sick exhaust. He's also got one of dem red-top batteries that gives like 50 rwhp brah.

Agreed, the chance that this turbo grenades and cause massive damage, is really not worth saving a couple bucks.

I was going to say, you have an N54 motor, you already have a lot of problems to deal with. Why are you trying to stir the pot with us N55 fellers?
Some of the reputable after market turbo manufacturers who pay to be on these forums couldn't even get their own shit right, don't know why you'd dick around with an Ebay turbo.
FBO is fine with these cars, once you get into upgraded turbos you're just asking for a car that's in the shop all the time.

Same here. Ran pure stage1 for 18k miles in 1 year. Now pure stage2 for 9k miles and 6 months. No issues at all.

There maybe a few more options out over the next few months. I've been speaking to a German turbo company that currently offer a turbo upgrade in the 450/460bhp range on pump fuel, 93 U.S. I'm not sure what numbers it makes with an E mix or higher octane but I know the pure S2 makes around the same figures on pump if that's anything to go by.

They are working on a 550+ version just now with the aim to achieve these numbers again on pump fuel. News about this upgrade should be available soon.

I'm looking to upgrade early next year so I'm interested to see what comes of this.
