Chrome 401 Wheels

I recently purchased a CPO 2015 335i Luxury Line. It has chrome 401 wheels, VIN decode shows 2A4 - 19"LT/ALY WHEELS DOUBLE SP. 401/MT.

I have not been able to find another F30 with chrome 401's. The car was dealer owned and executive driven. The wheels are not perfect, 3 appear to have been scuffed and repaired. Its only noticeable from very close up, but it annoys me to no end. I'm not a huge fan of chrome but the car was too good a deal to pass up.

I'm considering replacing them with either a set of 437Ms or a set of BBS CH-R, but I hate to admit, the shiny chrome is starting to grow on me.

I was wondering if anyone has seen chrome 401s on an F30.

I have never seen chrome 401 Style wheels. I have 2 sets. Very unusual.

Those look pretty good in chrome. I also have a luxury line but I have the 416's and have contemplated replacing them with HRE RS 103's or something similar. But now you have me thinking how would my 416's look in chrome.

Yeah, I was starting to think they were a bit unusual. When I took it in to a different dealer than purchased from, to have the MMPK installed the SA said he'd never seen chrome 401s.

Now that the suspension is done the next step is to replace the run flats. That's where I'm stuck. Do I keep the rather unique wheels or do I replace them and go with a bit larger tire. Luckily I've probably got at least 5K miles left on the RFTs so its not something I have to decide tomorrow.

Chrome is fine. But not on wheels IMHO.

If the wheels have been repaired, there's a possibility that it could've been refinished. This is the first set of chrome 401s we've seen. Is anyone aware of any factory OEM chromes from BMW? Maybe on the older 7 series?

That's the same option code as the standard wheels which would mean they've been refinished in chrome

When I say the wheels have been repaired, they have what appear to be filled and have copper or brass lines around the area. Hopefully these pics show what I'm talking about. In one of the pics you can see scratches near the dull area. From what I understand the only to correct the wheels would be to completely re-chrome. Not something I'd be inclined to do.

I guess I could contact the dealer I purchased it from to see if anyone knows the story with the wheels. When I bought it I didn't pay a lot of attention as I figured they were not unusual and planned to replace them.
