High beam assistant
Can high beam assistant be added to a car with ZLP (xenons and adaptive light control)?

I changed my question as you were replying to my post. I realized that I had adaptive light control, but couldn't figure out why I didn't have the high beam assistant. Then I checked my order and saw that I had ZLP but had not ordered the high beam assistant which is a stand alone option. A little annoying. Wonder if that can be added by a dealer (probably not).

Other question - unrelated - do you know where the driving mode is shown on the instrument cluster (if it is). I have a 328xi sedan (just delivered), and when I change mode, I can't find any indicator light on the cluster. Seems like it should be there somewhere.

It's really obnoxiously addicting (the high beam assistant)...so stupid they dropped it off the tech. It should at least be in the lighting...

The driving mode shows in the cluster near the trans display (P, D, R, etc). It doesn't show anything for Comfort, but will show Sport and Eco-Pro all the time if you are in those modes.

That's probably why I didn't see it. Been driving around mostly in comfort mode. I have tried sport mode a few times and you can feel the car change 'character' immediately.

I'm always amazed how much different the car feels in Sport mode. When I hit a twisty road, I hit sport mode and bam!, it feels like a totally different car. I never expected the extent of the difference before I got the car. I really didn't play with the modes all that much during the test drive. |

Mode setting is really amazing. Previous car was 2010 328i coupe and I feel like i still have the coupe when I want it. Coupe had stiffer suspension. Also have to say the run flats on the 2010 coupe were awful. The 18s on my new sedan seem much better. New car is so much faster too. Even after having read about it, I was surprised.
I see that it's easy to shut off the ASS by pushing the button by the start/stop button. I've been so focused on the iDrive, HUD, and communication stuff, I totally missed that. |
