Sweet. Thanks man. I'm deciding to sell my dinan springs for the m performance kit.

Side question, how difficult do you guys think it would be to install springs/shocks (no sway bars) yourself? There's an excellent video from ECS on how to do this on E90, I imagine F30 can't be too far off.

Try it...what could go wrong??

The sway bars are a bitch in the F30 design.

Hey Guys - need some help here.

Is it confirmed that the Sport Line and M Sport Line already have the sway bars / stabilizers required for the M Performance suspension kit? Here's the email / quote from my service advisor:

"Here are some of my tech notes that he pulled off of the repair instructions
For cars without M Sports chassis:
it is absolutely essential that the stabilisers on the M Sports chassis are retrofitted (for instructions and part
number, see EPC)."

I can match the price you pulled off of online store – with tax parts are $1736.87 the stabilizers are $575.01 Labor is $2156.00 = $4467.88"

Don't need the bars if you have the M sport line!
Note, installation should be MUCH cheaper without having to install this...

Agreed - that's why I wanted the quote b/c I'm willing to spend $2500; $4400 not so much.

I have the Sport line, but my understanding was that both Sport and M Sport have the beefier sway bars. I think the 'M Sport Suspension' is a misnomer b/c it shows up in the VIN decoder as well.

I checked the VIN decoder here and this is what it says about the suspension:

S704A M Sportfahrwerk | M Sports suspension

So presumably if one of you w/ an M Sport car checked your VIN, it should say the same thing?

Just trying to figure out the best way to prove it to the dealer that I already have the required sway bars. If someone w/ a Sport line who's had the m performance suspension installed could chime in with their experience, that might help too.

Otherwise I know I had read some specs about the thickness of the swaybars (13mm vs 12mm (non sport, non m sport) ..something like that. Need to search some more.

But any more inputs you guys can provide would be helpful. Thanks!

I have a sportline 335i and already have the swaybars as part of the m/sport suspension. You are more than welcome to get a ride in my car if you want to see how it feels.

PS - Please save yourself the hassle and buy the M Performance Suspension from getbmwparts.com

Trust me..... $1555 shipped. Dealer has no clue on how to order this suspension.

My SA actually pointed me to the same site. They're price matching w/ the getbmwparts. The issue here is about the stabilizers. The foreman (understandably) wants to ensure that they have all the required parts (for warranty purpose, etc).

I replied saying that's fine, I agree; but let's make sure it's necessary before I consider spending $2000 more than I expected. I asked them if I could drop by so they could look at my car and note down the part #s. Let's see what they say.

btw, apologies if I'm hijacking this thread.

VIP - I may actually take you up on that; it'd be nice to ride in one w/ the m perf suspension before taking the dive.

I still would buy them from getbmwparts. Trust me on this. They won't get the springs right. Do it right, order from getbmwparts and then install at Speed Element for <$300.

Thank me later.

My assumption was that they'd order from getbmwparts as well since they're the ones who pointed me to it. Will need to check w/ them on that once this gets sorted. Good point.

ah i see. well it makes better sense to just order it yourself. this way you get it shipped directly to your place and just need to throw it in your car and go to speed element for install.

If a local shop installs it would it still have the bmw warranty or do we need bmw to install them?

yes, there is no basis for them to void warranty or anything like that.

So, you'll only get the 2 year warranty, not the remaining BALANCE of your new car warranty if you go this route (for instance, I have a 6 year/100k warranty, and hence, will get that on all my parts installed there).

You can usually get the dealers down to $115-125 an hour depending on how well you know your SA, and then, of course, this works in your warranty favor.

Again, if you don't care about it, then go with the cheapest...

This is true for most M Performance stuff (probably MPS included).

Slightly off topic, but for the M Perf LSD, the warranty coverage is only valid if the dealer installs it, and only through the original 4yr/50k miles. (They won't cover the LSD through the optional 6yr/100k mile extended warranty.)
Still not a bad deal having 50k mile coverage on an LSD though...
