Do wheels need to be the same width to be considered square?
Question: If I mounted a pair of 245/40R18 tires on a 18x8.5 on the front axle and a pair of 245/40R18 tires on a 18x9 on the rear axle, would this be considered a square setup or staggered because the wheel size is different?
If wondering why, just curious to know if there are those who wanted the flexibility to go between a staggered and square setup but not change wheels. Thanks

your described setup is square, tires... however since your rims are different widths and (speculating) offset, you cannot rotate front to rear, only across the axle.
a true square setup would be four of the same rims(diameter, width, offset) at each corner with the same size tires. fully rotatable if wrapped with non-directional tires |

It's a typo. Tire width is to be 245mm. The idea would be if I decided to switch from staggered to square would I have to switch wheels or just swap tires.
