Went to service this morning...

Hi guys, i went to service this morning for maintenence program, among other stuff like rattling issues, blower motor and rusty seat bases... But what brought my attention is that the service advisor mentioned to me before i signed the service sheet that the car upon inspection showed two messages: ( he said they put the keyfob in a sort of device that reads faulty messages???!)
1- drivetrain malfunction
2- passenger restraint something....

He said that it might be voltage issues that they are gonna check! But im not convinced.. Anyone had similar issues? The cars systems all check ok, no ses light at all and no messages whatsoever.

hey can you tell me whats wrong with your blower motor, I am having an issue with my as and when i turn it to max it starts making very loud noise as if the paper is stuck in the blower, they told me that blowerr motor needs to be replace which is a very common problem and that its on back order currently, also since its a very common problem i asked him how much it is to replace out of warrany he said about $500 which is crazy

Came back today from service! They cleaned the blower. They found leaves trapped there. Other than that they changed the whole exhaust system from downpipe and all the way back with new muffler, clamps and even the black chrome tailpipes (all this due to rattling sounds from that area)(they found the exhaust bent). Oil and filter, and still to fix is the rusty seat frames ( case is with bmw na) the dealer is waiting for their responce.

What problems were you having with exhaust because my 328i gives off this weird scraping or crackling noise when my foot comes off the accelerator. Seems to be coming from the exhaust.

With regards to the faults, yeah, my car was very similar. At 15,000 miles, they pulled out a HUGE list of faults from the keychain, but none of them stuck long enough to actually cause the warning to be presented to me.

IMO it's just sensors being flaky. There's a reason why the car won't show the fault to you if it doesn't think they'll persist.

Always a disconnect between ECU faults (DTC's) on CAN and what is displayed in the dash. I'd say there's always a "reason" to know about them, it's just infeasible to burden the dealer with all the minor problems.

I'd liken it to how in windows 7 the microsoft anti-virus thing tells you something's up and allows you to fix it. Compared to waiting until your computer becomes unusable due to all the ED and porno pop-ups you get.

Sadly, the dealership is really only paid to take care of problems in their latter stages - there is really no incentive to fix minor problems because they get paid nothing. The definitely get paid nothing to "diagnose" problems.

I have had both. There were both mechanical and software problems.

There are a number of threads on both issues which are, unfortunately, common.

BTW, low voltage can indeed cause many faults. One way to help avoid this is to push the Start button twice to turn off then engine and then the electronics. Otherwise, the car remains electronically active for a long time before finally shutting itself off.

Your car spent 3 weeks and 2 additional days in the shop just for this?

I have a noise like you describe in the first few minutes after cold start. Dealer told me it was the waste gates before they had reached normal operating temperature. In this video, you can hear it as the orange car is passed.

Is it the same noise?
