3GT vs all new MB C Class

Hi all, I am currently having a 1er (F20), and now I have 2 kids. Thinking to upgrade to a 3GT or new MB C Class. What do you guys suggest?

I love the new c class cabin, it's now so much better than the previous one. And look more trendy and high tech than BMW. Out look I still buy the 3GT over C. Space wise I think GT has more room in every way as the dimensions are wider and longer.

3GT is bigger inside, especially in the back seat. Six inches more leg room than the C class. If you really need the room in the rear then the 3GT is the way to go.

I would have to second the 3GT. The 3GT & the C really aren't competitors, but then, what does the 3GT go against?! If you are really set on the C, I would really encourage you to get the folding rear seat. At least that would increase your cargo capacity.

Before you do anything, go look at the C and put the kids in the rear. Make sure they're comfortable. They're the ones who have to sit back there.

Go to the dealer and put the 3GT driver's seat in a comfortable position. Get out and sit in the driver's side rear seat. Now do the same thing with the Merc.

If you care about rear seat space, your decision will be made.

Space wise I think there is no question, go for the GT.

Try taking a test drive of both, that will help to sort out your doubts.

I didn't have the chance to try a Mercedes C but I am satisfied with my GT, if you go for that I would recommend getting the BMW 8-speed auto transmission which is simply fantastic. I would also consider to get the adaptive suspensions on the GT since the car is really comfortable but IMHO floaty at times on irregular surfaces, I don't have them and I am regretting not having them ordered with the car.

We have only 1 baby and recently also upgraded from a 1 series (E87) - just like you we considered the lovely C Merc and also the 3 series saloon, state and GT. The guys here are right, the GT#s space in the rear and boot sealed the deal for us.

Trying both is the way forward Xoulas804... do tell the dealer you are considering "the opposition" and you WILL get some discounts - we certainly did that

The GT also had an advantage, the controls were already familiar and a really nice evolution of what we had in the E87 - the GT is a very modern car and aligns with the new vision BMW has with the new X series, 4 series, etc. It really is a great car.

I hope you manage to remain in the family

Thanks for your advise! But too bad I don't get any discount from both dealers.

I am leaning more to GT as the price is same as C if both have the similar options. I drove my dad's CLK a lot, I don't like the MB driving experience.

But my wife wants a C as it's newly released.

Funny how the 3GT no longer looks like a pustulant anal wart when a Merc enters the picture.

It will be mineral grey and black interior.

Options are auto transmission, sunroof, rear cam. The so called standard in here already includes a bunch of options compare to NA and Europe.
