Thanks Gordon, that makes more sense. Look forward to hearing more. I'm perfectly happy with my brakes so if I had to replace them I'd probably wait until they were worn out!

Are you getting any performance parts? The rear splitter is the only thing I'd like.

No probs mate, I personally don't get the need for the brake upgrade. Hope to find out soon though so watch this space.

No on the M parts, cosmetics not really my thing.

The only visual mod I would have liked is the twin exhaust pipes. Shame 335d doesn't have them.

I could be tempted with the kit but it depends on the brake situation and price for them as I have standard 330d system. My car is a May 2013 one but don't think it is a Euro 6 so cannot help with a VIN i am afraid! Is the Bedford dealership opened by the same people who own Cambridge do you know?

Hi Ben, it should say on the V5 whether Euro 5 or 6, or do a VIN check?

Yes same dealership group, Bedford, Stansted, Cambridge

Right most of the answers are back, and is good news (I think)

For the 330d there are 2 powerkits:

Powerkit for cars with upgraded brakes (2NH or ZP1A)

· New Engine control unit including engine data update

· Upgraded Charge air cooler

· M Performance Labeling

Price £1200RRP Special price £950

Powerkit for cars without upgraded brakes (2NH or ZP1A)

Vehicles without upgraded Brakes as above, plus

· 3.0L variant models have their front axle brakes upgraded with a 4 piston fixed caliper and drilled and grooved disks.

Price £1600RRP Special price £1260

I take that as the front gets the full M Performance upgrade, not at all bad for the extra money.

More info from the email:

There are two kit variances one for vehicles with the brakes and one without. If the vehicle spec is without (2NH M sport Brake Kit) or (ZP1A M Performance Braking System) Then the kit is identified as the one with the brakes that is needed [From VIN].

Is it mandatory (some feel the brakes are good enough)?

BMW state:

“When the full potential of the BMW M Performance Power Kit is being harnessed, the series brake system can be subjected to higher thermal stresses”.

“For approval and warranty reasons, the BMW M Performance Power Kits must only be installed in its entirety. Individual parts must not be installed in isolation”.

So looks like you need the brakes if you haven't got them to maintain full warranty.

Soooooo......who is up for this?

Generally with diesels, economy is around the same, like for like driving.....obviously if you use the extra power it will come at a fuel cost.

That's what I've always found too. Great price Gordon (well compared to the rrp) just a shame I'd be forced into upgrading the brakes! I guess the 335D must come with M Sport brakes as standard?

I feel a call to my insurance company coming

Will the upgraded brakes fit in a 17" wheel. I don't suppose it will.

I've got M Performance brake kit coming on my car and was told for winters I had to have 18's as 17's wouldn't clear the calipers.

No.....labour listed in first post. Those are normal BMW workshop rates, you might be able to negotiate a better deal?

Good work NISFAN

Seems quite reasonable really at those discounted prices. I'd need the brake upgrade but at £310 it's good value. I wonder if my manchester dealer will match those prices....

No worries, I am in Derby every week if it helps? Also the dealership are prepared to post the kits if required.

Can't wait to feel the results of this

Ah I didn't appreciate that when I read it. So £1730 for a modest 10% increase. Makes the DTUK box seem good value.
http://www.diesel-performance.co.uk/...(2012-)_258-ps

Probably a similar impact on insurance.

I do appreciate your work Gordon but that's just too much for me.

So the price is plus fitting? My dealer won't even fit my MSport black grilles as I didn't buy them from them

I think I'll run the car in standard then look seriously at the upgrade

Looking forward to getting your views on the extra grunt

A tuning box vs. OEM? Are you sure Richard? I know the on paper gains are modest but you know it's not just about that.
