Actually that's the last thing on my mind when speccing a car...rightly or wrongly. My main consideration is what I want to be driving around in for the next 1/2/3 years. Residual value I couldn't care about.

Now if I was was buying a car to do up then flip then yes of course that would be top priority, but for own personal use? Nah what I want it to do is my concern not what it may be worth down the line.

I don't buy a suit thinking how much I can get for it in three years.

Spot on. Couldn't care less about residual values - this my toy and my money and I'll have what I want, thank you. When I specced a manual 335i the dealer made vague noises about an auto having better resale value - yawn, do I look like I give a f*ck?

I have Pro Media and my BPD does not look like anything in those pictures.
Anyway, I love the way it works with the Sat Nav.

How is yours different, except for the lower rev range because of diesel engine obviously?

Just checked. It's the same. Different during the day.

I don't pay attention to these its-y bits-y things like you do.

And by the way, that was uncalled for.

I find it strange the BPD has old school red LED and the standard cluster has the nice colour LCD type face. Totally the opposite from Audi....

It is white during the day, changes orange at night to reduce glare.

And it's not led, it's an actual lcd screen!

Funny that I never noticed the 'orange' BCD at night. Took it as a given.

But I have made no reference to residual value

It still costs you more at the start when adding these expensive options and you can justify them which is fine.

I'm not challenging anyone on their choices as we all have different priorities, as I said in my original post it's interesting seeing everyone defend the choices they have made

Indeed.

It costs me more to buy a hand made fine wool suit or shoes rather than get some chinese specials from Primark...but the only "justification" I need is I'd rather be wearing the hand made ones regardless of cost.

Do you really sell your suits after three years?

BTW, I don't give a toss about residual values.

Well that depends... Want to buy a nice Jaegar wool single breasted 3 button thin pinstripe in navy suit? One careful owner, never been raced or rallyed...fully loaded with options?
