Red Dwarf:

Holly: Nothing wrong with dog's milk. Full of goodness, full of vitamins, full of marrowbone jelly. Lasts longer than any other type of milk, dog's milk.

Lister: Why?

Holly: No bugger'll drink it. Plus, of course, the advantage of dog's milk is that when it goes off, it tastes exactly the same as when it's fresh.

See, it's a sure fire investment. Just send cheques to me, made payable to Cheeses Almost Safe for Humans, or CASH for short

I am, sort of. I'm a mechanical engineer and I do 'stuff' in and around the nuclear sector. It's a slow industry.

So you need an investment of £250k from the family for R&D to come up with a paperclip/blu-tac combination for version 2.

Not necessarily, it's a priority thing. If you want to afford something, you can forgo other things to make it happen.

My assumption on affordability is pretty much NOT doing without something else.

If I have to give up something just to buy something, either I need to save more, sell my daughter or it's not financially viable.

Giving up something just to buy and own a car, leaves no room for unexpected costs for non warranty stuff.
