I do think my 135i with N54 sounds a bit louder at idle than the 335i with stock exhaust. But I also feel/hear the N55 sounds better at idle.
When cracking open the throttle on the N55 it sounds better than my
N54 135i, plus the intake roar at WFO on the N55 is sweet too.

The performance exhaust sounds louder and better than my 135i N54, and more so when you open up the throttle. Idle sounds deeper with the N55 and sport exhaust vs the N54 135i. I can't speak to a 135i w/N54 or N55 with sport exhaust, as I have no experience with hearing either one, other than youtube. But, real life is a much different experience compared to youtube video with exhaust sounds coming from a .5" to 1" speaker.
It just can reproduce the real tone and subtlety that your ears can discern.
I think you'll be very pleasantly surprised.

No. Ugh. Too many accounts and too many passwords to remember and too much spam coming in.

That's why I use Polk towers are my computer speakers.

Why are you guys worrying about keeping the flap open? If you unplug the actuator does the flap stay closed? On our 328i (stock exhaust) I just unplugged the actuator and the valve was open, done deal.

Basically one exhaust pipe is being blocked until like 4500rpm

if you unplug the actuator the flap will flap around.

Nope. Unplugging the actuator will just prevent it from getting an electrical signal. Mechanically, it will still hold the flap closed. Basically, if you unplug the actuator, it will remain closed. If you remove the actuator clip/spring (whatever you want to call it) then the flap will flap around angrier than a marble in a Coke can.

Your right, my bad. basically you have to disconnect the little motor from the flap then mcgyver the flap to the open position

Ok that's what I wanted to know. On the previous generation cars, the 1 and 3 series would have their flap open if you unplugged the actuator but the 5 series' flap would be closed, similar to these new cars if I'm remembering right.

So you guys are saying that if we wire the flap so it stays open on the stock N55 we will not see much of an improvement at all?

No one's dyno'd it to compare. I didn't see/feel any improvements. But I only tried it around the block and then put it back to stock. There's no harm in doing it, so why not just try it?

So, my question is what kind of improvement over the stock system does the Mperformacne offer? Is the sound noticeably better(louder)

From the youtube videos i have seen the mperforamnce sounds raspier than stock but not much louder.

What do you guys think? thx
What do you mean by $400 residualized?

Is there a big difference in sound between the stock exhaust and the M exhaust?
Currently Im having the stock exhaust but considering going for the M exhaust or another brand with louder & better sound.

Assuming you mean HP/Tq improvements?

this is very simple to answer. Under Dyno Conditions the flap is open. so wiring it open all the time makes no difference.

There is one reason for this "mod" - to increase the volume of music your engine produces.

There's threads on here w/ sound clips. the M exhaust isn't going to be as loud as aftermarket....but it's noticeably louder than OEM

M Performance = 80mm. No idea on the size of the stock tips.

has anyone noticed better performance over the stock exhaust? I want to know if the M performance has decent gains. If it does Ill pull the trigger and if not Id have to wait for Dinan or something else.
