They almost totaled my "06 too. Then they had already replaced a lot of parts and then let it go. What started out as $8K became $12K. The car had over 100K miles. Looking back I would have been better off if they totaled it.

You should not have accepted that if wrong hood used.

Geez...10-15mph and 17K in damage? I tapped a Ford Explorer with my SS at about the same speed years ago. Damage to Explorer was $500 (bumper). Damage to my SS: $2800. Who knew that BMWs were so fragile..lol. Sorry to hear OP..hope you can find a decent replacement quickly.

OE vs OEM parts is one thing

many insurance companies will also have a clause in the policy that allows them to use "crash" parts - used parts that are taken off other vehicles

They're waiting for the salvage quote but the garage and Geico are pretty sure it's gonna be totaled.

Im a little upset because Ive never loved a car as much as this one and never found one so perfect for me as this one. Im a little relieved though because I doubt it would've been the same being put back together and re-sale would've killed me. Should find out tomorrow whats the decision. Ive been looking country wide for another F30 335xi to replace this one and its a hard search. Here are some pics of the car being torn apart. Nuts 10-15mph into the back of a ford escape did this much damage.
Sweet you get to buy another CPO so soon

So final decision came down and ended up going total. Here's the numbers.

Bought the car 6 months ago for $31,900

In the end (with some "possibly" broken parts) brought it from $17,000 to $20,500 in damage

Salvage value was a super weak $6,600 (me and my insurance guy thought that was extremely low)

They ended up appraising my car at $29,500.

I have 30 days to get myself another F30 and Ill get a refund for my sales tax so thats a nice incentive to get on the search.

I loved this car and want to get the same exact one but this time with the Driver assistance package and less milage. If anyone spots cars around there town or are ending a lease please let me know. Im doing nation wide searches and having a hard time finding something.

2013-15
M-Sport
Silver, Black, White
Maxed out in packages, give or take cold package
Close to or under 40,000 miles
under $35k

Thanks!

fyi - that appraisal figure is not set in stone. Let's say you find a car virtually identical to yours at a dealer and they're asking $31,900 and the most they'll come down is to $30,900. Well, then that's the current market value for a car like yours in like condition and that sets the true retail market value for your car, so the insurance company needs to increase their appraisal.

This happened to me when I had a car totaled and found an identical car at CarMax. CarMax doesn't negotiate prices, so with some pushing I got the insurance to agree that it was a fair market value for an identical car and they increased their initial appraisal amount. There was some mileage difference, so they made an adjustment for that and I got an identical car with fewer than half as many miles for $1,000 difference.

Check Swap a Lease. You might find something there.

That's not bad. Works out to $400/month (but hope you can do what tturedraider mentioned) . And hope you get another BMW you love

I got the check and they paid off the car already, I did negotiate it up a bit from there but I'm pretty sure I made out on it since I had 59,000 miles on it and all comparable cars (from my search nation wide for the same exact car) were cheaper then what they appraised mine for. I think I did fine, I just cant find anything as of now (ive even started looking at C400's)
