Cool Performance Exhaust

So I started off this morning looking for an exhaust cutting tool at various hire places and auto stores, without success. Just as I was about to call it a day I came across a dodgy looking exhaust shop with absolutely zero customers, and figured what the hell. Asked the guy to make a cut where I wanted and he agreed for $20. Left the existing exhaust on the hangers with some wire to prevent it falling off and made the 5km journey home. All I can say is don't delete your muffler. Did my best to keep it under 1500rpm (EcoPro finally came in useful for something).

Once I got it home it was pretty simple. Probably took no more than 30 mins with the majority of that getting the car off the ground.

How's it sound... subtle at first, but after a decent drive, definately more noticable. I expect it will develop over time. It enhances and accentuates the existing aural characteristics of the car, rather than changing them.

Thanks again to Stu at BMR for getting the exhaust to me. Again, completely satisfied, and a great price as well. Its comparable to what the guys in the US are paying, so can't complain at all about that. No need to import it from OS.

And as usual, some pic whoring...

Nice one, your car is coming along nicely.

I'm still tossing up whether to fit the BMW Performance brake kit or exhaust for the 328 first. Should probably just get it out if the way and do both

Thanks mate, yeah do both .

Exhaust was probably one of the lower priority items on my list, but they're readily available, so ticked it off.

Nice!

Good work on the DIY too, but I don't think an exhaust shop would charge much for install..

P.s hope you don't mind if I use your pic for promo stuff (?)

Thanks Spikey. Yeah, it was DIY apart from cutting the pipe. It's pretty easy. There are just 2 rubber hangers holding the muffler in place, so once the pipe is cut, pull the old muffler out, put the new one in, and clamp it in place.

lol, go for it Stu. Rather you use them than some random ebayer. I'll need a good deal on my next purchase though

Actually I did ask the guy this morning out of curiousity how much to do the whole job, but he wasn't interested. That was a bit odd. Quite happy to cut the pipe though. I'd rather do it myself anyway, and I didn't have the exhaust with me at the time, so it didn't matter anyway.

I think if they charge more than $60 for an install like this, they're taking you for a ride. It's probably about 20 mins work in a well equipped shop.

Thanks mate. Much easier than you think. Did a few hours of driving today the sound just gets better and better. I also made some adjustments as I felt the tips were sticking out a bit further than they should.

Nice mod I've always found the stock exhausts across the F30 BMWs too skinny.. it kinda forces us to get the M performances ones.. I've just ordered mine.

Sorry boys, there's already a million videos/soundclips of this exhaust, so i can't really add much. Exhaust clips never really give a true indication of the sound if you ask me anyway.

Yeah, it basically fell off when I was washing the car one day

The double sided tape wasn't the best. 3M tape would probably hold better. I was 50/50 on how it looked anyway, and now that I've seen the real deal OEM one, I like that a lot more.

Yeah I agree, I wasn't sold on the m sport rear at first, but now I'm quite liking it. Goes well with the M performance diffuser.

You probably know already, but just in case you can order parts of the M-sport kit to retrofit if you wanted.

I've also seen a 1M front bumper fitted to an F30 and it looked very hot.

Yep, already made a few enquiries. I think I want to sort out the suspension first, so the cosmetic stuff can probably wait. Sport line still looks pretty good anyway
