not if you're trying to maintain speed, i.e. cruise control.

but for the record, it is definitely better to stay in gear and downshift when slowing down rather than shifting to neutral or pushing and holding the clutch in early. i'm pretty sure this discussion is only around when using cruise control in eco pro mode.
