2014 335i MSport original exhaust

Advice wanted please.

I own my 2014 and about to pull the trigger on a Borla S system.
The question is what do I do with the factory exhaust?

Do I keep it for resale as its better to return the car to stock? I assume it doesn't come apart nicely and can be boxed up. From what I can tell its around 11 feet long.

Do I sell it to help fund the cost of the Borla?

Not sure exactly but advice welcome.

You have the MPE exhaust? If yes, you can sell that, which is the axle back portion of the exhaust. Basically the muffler. The rest of the exhaust is just stock BMW. The mpe section will already be cut and have a clamp on it.

I've heard great things about the Borla.

After re-reading your post It looks like you just have stock exhaust. Not sure on that, maybe just hold on to it. When you decide to sell the car just throw the stock exhaust back on and then sell the Borla. Most buyers don't want any types of mods done.

Im in a similar situation and I will keep the stock exhaust, the don't really sell for much unless you have the MPE.
It's always a good idea to keep stock parts in case you sell your car and the new owner doesn't want any mods.

I got the Borla S exhaust and decided to keep the stock exhaust in storage. Yes, it's roughly 11 feet long and kind of a pain to store. I actually found a way to fit it resting in the rafters of an extra garage we have, so it's there if I ever want to (or need to) have it put back on the car.

You'll love the exhaust by the way...

It's definitely noticeable and actually louder than I thought it would be. But, it's not at the ridiculous level or anything. I have a wife and two little girls, and they're all fine with it and used to it. The most brutal part is cold startups....very loud for 20 seconds before exhaust starts passing the turbo again.

To me, a much better option than MPE.....it's slightly more noticeable and better performing for the same price and quality.

I would sell it. I would've sold mine if I could have fit it in my trunk.

ALWAYS KEEP STOCK PARTS!

If you've owned and modded fast vehicles before, people always prefer to buy a car in stock condition with original parts. You can always sell the aftermarket stuff rather easily on the forums and craigslist. I sold all the FBO goodies from my N54 335i within two days from these very forums. got about $2500 back on parts. It's a vicious cycle when you're never satisfied.
who knows you may get bored with your Borla and decide you want something else.

It's hard for me to answer because I don't know exactly what constitutes a drone. Are there certain rpm bands where the exhaust is more audible....especially in ECO mode? Yes. Is it what I'd call a drone? No. When I think of droning, I think of an all-encompassing "buzzing" that fills the cabin and becomes an annoyance to your ears. In my opinion, the Borla S doesn't do that at all, but you will hear it more at certain speeds....especially when the rpms are fairly low in the higher gear range (I have the 8AT). My litmus test is the fact that my wife never complains about it in any way. In fact, I got a "that actually sounds pretty cool" out of her when I first got it put on.....and she's not a car person at all.

Borla advertises no drone and I'd say that's pretty accurate....but again its all subjective. You'll hear it more at certain rpm bands, but to me, it's never an annoyance.

Again, very helpful. thank you! I feel like I will be able to better modulate if there any problems driving a mt.

Psyched to get it. Wish black tips were an option.

much obliged again!

Post it for like $400 on craigslists... if you sell it... great.. if not, you can swap it out when you sell...
