Yeah, pretty cool feature that aids in some additional customization ability. Read through the above posts for instructions.

Good luck and have fun

Read this thread or better still read the manual. I bet if you read the manual you'd find all sorts of other cool things your car can do!

You can't. You can only reset all 8 of them at once by pushing and holding both 1 & 8 for 5 seconds.

I just read through this thread and found this:

I've read this thread twice and I still learned something new....and just went and redid my presets.

Something I'll share with others that may not be aware: you really only need to store one single radio station as a preset button.

If you set that one radio station from your Presets menu, and then tuck the presets menu back under with a left push of the controller, whenever you tap that 1-8 key for that single radio station, the HUD will now bring up your scrolling list of up to 40 station preset favorites. Tap that one shortcut button to get to your favorite radio station then scroll the rest from there. It's a lot better than dedicating a lot of those eight buttons to just radio stations.

BJ
If you set your radio presets from the idrive preset menu, you can then set another function to the buttons by pressing and holding them -- for example, I have button 6 set to night display for my maps, but it is also set for an FM preset. To access the radio preset though, you have to scroll using the steering wheel button (and idrive has to be set to the presets screen) - if I press button 6, I only get the night display on/off

How exactly do you set it to your home address? What screen do you have to be on then hold?

Push and hold on the button when the Home entry in the destination list is highlighted, but not clicked on yet.

Sure, I just tried it and it works fine:

1. Have guidance active.
2. On the nav screen, left-click the knob to select the icons on the left.
3. Select the top left hand icon and click it (push down). A new screen will display.
3. Turn to the "Stop Guidance" line (don't click it) and push-and-hold the 1-8 button you want to program. Done.

The program-a-function trick is to be at the step just before you click to activate the function, and then memorize the button from there. You are memorizing a click, not a screen.

Hmm, that is how I did it. Will try one more time.
