I just never find myself thinking... "if only I had a really fancy diesel car...."

Also can't stand their wheels. They remind me bicycle spokes or something.

Just don't understand the appeal of these.

I never was an Alpina fan. Some aspects of their cars I really like though. but 516 ft lbs of torque stock, and it is a diesel! these things are gonna fly with some tuning !

Hi there, ALPINA are very good at what they do and stay true to their beliefs. Thus the 20 spoke wheel design hasn't changed much in 50 years because they argue that this turbine like design is best suited for high speed driving, at high speeds it becomes like a flat surface so no air can go through or something like that. Do also notice that even the tyre valve is hidden to give it a really streamlined look as well as to aid in aerodynamics.

Their 'boring' looking aerokits are also wind tunnel tested, allowing the B3, B4, B7 all exceed 300km/h making them the fastest production BMWs in the world. Kindly note also that the XD3 is also the fastest production diesel SUV in the world and the D5 diesel super saloon maxes out at 278km/h. Why is this so is because ALPINA is registered in the German ministry of transport as a car manufacturer and produce their cars on BMWs own plant in Dingolfing.

I too never liked their 'boring' wheels and aero designs but have grown to really appreciate this brand's philosophy, direction and exclusivity(only 1700 cars produced a year, worldwide). Simply amazing.

N54 is, a far as I know, out of production. Alpina always needs to use engines which are currently in production with BMW.
Yeah, no valvetronic on N54 engines, so must be a modified N55. However the current Z4 35i and 35is both use N54 engines and are still sold in 2015, so I am not sure if you can say it is out of production. Even the Z4 35i never switched to the N55 platform.

Does anybody ever buy these cars? The only thing I'm remotely interested in is that f30 spoiler.

If you think adding on Alpina style lip kits adds any type of legit aero to these cars......you are completely mislead and incorrect. Mperformance aero is wind tunnel tested too. Nothing special there.

They're nice cars and all but in the US nobody into BMW's is paying more than M pricing for a non-M car and nobody is buying a 3 series here for luxury.

We don't appreciate diesels here either, and their fate has been sealed forever by VW Audi fuckery with the emissions scandals.
