netbook hard drive question?!

A few months back I dropped my small net book, cracked the screen and when it dropped the hard drive flew out, well I put the hard drive back in and used the computer for about a month via hdmi cord through a HDTV, worked fine, after a few weeks it started to crash and it would not want to boot at all it said I may have a connection problem or a bad hard drive, after taking the battery out it would sometimes load and boot up but then crash again, so after installing my new screen I opened up the computer and the hard drive seemed to not be connected correctly it was loose on the power source, I pluged it back in correctly and now no issues, Im wondering if this could have been the problem or is my computer going to crash again, thanks alot. -Denise
PS. I just purchased a new ipad and a mac book pro but I still love my little acer and I want it to work I have alot of stuff on the hard drive.

Sounds like it could've been your hard drive not being seated properly since you dropped it. If it is working but you are concerned you could lose everything, ghost a new drive and toss the old one before the inevitable. If I were you I would upgrade to a SSD, those little net books boot really fast with a SSD.

yeah the standard drive on my netbook is horribly slow. everything else is decent until there's heavy disk i/o.

but, a good ssd is like 1/2 the cost of the netbook... tough call unless you really like your netbook.

There are many SSD options for under $100.. Although you'll be getting less than 100gig of storage space. If your main concern is abundance of storage, hybrid hard drives (HHDD) are an option; they combine massive storage with near SSD speed for considerably less. There are several options around $100.
I've been contemplating replacing one of my drives in my Asus gaming laptop with a HHDD. I have dual 250gig's and one has recently become noisy..

It depends on your system, some do support 4gig; most do not.
Check out crucial.com you can scan your system or input your model etc and it will tell you what is available for your netbook. Although 4gig is quite a bit for a netbook, if you really need that much memory maybe you need an actual laptop that can handle that and more.

I believe mine supports 8gb ,but I have a factory 4gb ,acer aspire one is a really good netbook for the price and out preforms most regular laptops honestly ,HD 1080p playback & video streaming 320gb hdd. I am not having the problem at all anymore since I put the HDrive back in. I think it just was not getting a good connection at all.

Also most netbooks at 8-10 inches, mine is 11.6 its by far the best netbook available at the best the store at the time. Plus the HDMI port lets me hook it up to my 60 inch flat screen and im able to stream movies and videos and watch it on the tv in HD so im very happy with the acer. if your looking for something cheap and good.Look for the acer aspire one 722 i think the 2gb version at walmart is like 200 dollars which is amazing price for such a good quality 11.6inch netbook with all the bells and whistles such as HIGH DEF,HDMI,Front camera,WIFI,dual core,HD internet, its 1366x768 LED LCD so its pretty damn good for $200 dollars and you can infact upgrade it to 4-8gb and also has an SD port.
