335i or Active Hybrid 3

So what's the feeling on handling between the two cars ?

Anyone tried both?

What makes the 335i saloon a better deal than the 3 series Hybrid?

Just curious - not planning on moving to a salon anytime soon

Sytner in Newport had an Active3 Hybrid in when I was looking around for mine. I gave it a go and whilst it was OK, it felt pretty heavy and roly in the corners.

Also for my driving the MPG was no better than the 335i.

The active hybrid is 135kg's heavier than the 335i!

So basically it's for motorway driving or countries that mainly have straight roads!

Ideal for across th pond then, 135 is a big chunk for limited returns.

I wonder if it has full Msport suspension then?

I have the AH3 with M-sport suspension.

Because all the extra weight (from the battery) is located low, and directly behind the rear axle, handling does not suffer as much as you would expect.

With the 6cyl engines I should say a bit of weight out back is welcome to a certain degree. How do you like it? I have been so close to enquiring about one several times.

I've had it for almost 2 years, and it has been a good car. Hasn't had any issues, and still feels very solid.

At the time, a custom-ordered AH3 was only <$1K more expensive than the equivalent 335i, with (at the time) the AH3 offering the NBT Nav and a few more freebies.

The gas MPG is not outstanding, but I have a very traffic-heavy commute. As best I can tell, the AH3 offers 328i MPG, with power of a 335i.

I definitely recommend it, if you can get it for a modest premium over a 335i. The weight balance is 49.9f/50.1r, so it is very comfortable to drive at all speeds.

Thanks, They are heavily discounted and subsidised over here, I don't think they sell many at all. I really quite fancy one and would probably have one if they came xdrive.
