yea iv accepted it would most likely be msrp or more, but then again it could be so limited that it'll hold its value well & maybe even make something back in a few years selling it

yea & to be honest i never even have people in my back seat these days anyway, so sounds like the size is fine. You know, I' was actually looking at the m235i & liked it, but it seems the m235i is the same price as m2 MSRP wise. LSD + nicely optioned m235i and the m2 are priced similarly, might as well go with the m2 at this point (if could even get 1)

Has that ever happened within a few years of debut?

It's like you've been living under a rock and didn't notice that all cars have grown in size since 1990. It's pretty obvious that people got used to bigger cars over time. So yes it's 2016 and this is now considered small...

This isn't universally true. There has been some obvious bloat over the years among all manufacturers, but in BMW's case, they've moved quite a few of their cars up the rung from a size classification standpoint i.e. subcompact, compact, midsize, etc for a given series.

Cars on a whole are still WAY smaller than they were in the past so they're all "small" if you want to split hairs.

Sticking with the single-turbo in the M2 is probably a combination of cost and marketing (can't threaten the M3) considerations.

It looks like an awesome car and I'm also thinking about it for when I'm ready to get out of my F30.
Exactly. As the Porche guys say "it got Cayman-ized"

Yeah. Single-turbo 4-banger in the new boxster/cayman makes me sad
