Just picked up my 340i - cornering lights?

Just picked up my 340i with track package (no fog lights) and looks like there are no cornering lights at all, even with the fancy adaptive LED option I selected? I assumed with the fog light delete there would be a way to provide cornering coverage with the fancy LEDs. Oh well...

Do you mean the headlights swiveling, or one fog light turning on in the direction you're turning?

I believe the later.

OP, that does suck. I really like having my fog lights, they work very well.

My adaptive LEDs on my 435 had cornering lights. Yours should. Is the switch on auto?

Now on my 335 with no fogs and HIDs I don't have them. I don't miss them anymore though..

I have adaptive LEDs on my 435i without fogs and they only do it when the switch is on auto, like mentioned by Blubaron. Tripped me up at first when I got my car. If that doesn't do the trick, take it to your dealer to verify that it's been coded in. It should be if you got the Adaptive lights as an option.

Good luck!

No fogs, no cornering lights. That's the Track Package issue. Why would you want fog lights on a car set up for the track?

Had fogs on my E90s. Don't miss them (or cornering light function) on my F30s.

And the switch is set to auto so sounds like BMW doesn't accommodate ok the LCI. For what it's worth, I was surprised to see the adaptive led lights move above speeds of 35mph. Literature stated otherwise. Overall, led are nice but no cornering which is a minus to me and the high beams don't throw as far or high. HID projectors are superior in my opinion.

My 428i GC had Adaptive LED Headlights with cornering lights built-in, on the inner sides of each headlight. My current 340i with Adaptive LED Headlights don't have this, I imagine its because of the new DRL design, it goes right to the inner sides of the headlights.

Fogs are a an absolute must for any car I have here. More light the better! They help me see the potholes in the dimly lit streets here. They Helped me avoid a huge crater. Other night.

And they just look better on the car than off, it looks like something is missing from the spot with them not there.

You need to have fog lights for cornering lights on the F30.

Care to elaborate?

Without foglights, and with the fake "inner" headlight, how would you have cornering lights:

+1

Adaptive HID Xenon system is much better IMHO than LEDs. I'm convinced the change to LEDs obey more to financial reasons than lighting quality or power (especially speaking of high beams). Excellent day!

I have been lucky enough to own both a 2014 F32 with LEDs, and a 2015 F30 with HIDs.

I did like the LEDs a little better. It was a brighter white. There were times I thought the LEDs were not as widespread or far, but I honestly think they are the same. The F32 with LEDs did have cornering lights.. And I loved how they projected from the car. Also, the DRLs seemed a little bit better on the F32.

But, where do you live, pal? I believe the adaptive feature in the HID system is not enabled in USA (thanks to DOT). It is a beautiful performance of the lights at night... I'm with you about the embarrassing lack of projectors in LED system in BMW. They look like an aftermarket adaptation of LEDs in halogen reflectors... It's a shame we don't have HIDs as an option anymore in F30 but we still do in F32... Cheers!

It's not adaptive to the extent they could be, but they did move and do low speed cornering. I still liked they way they looked when on compared to the HIDs.

Then, do you prefer the current (reflectors) look versus, for example, Mercedes, Audi, Ferrari or Lamborghini (and so many others) look with xenon, LEDs or laser systems (all of them, with projectors)?

For OP: I think you can install the original (halogen/LED) fog lights and code the cornering feature, with some little patience...

Good question. I am not sure.
