Registration plate - choice?
Is it just me who is sad enough to ask the dealer for a choice of registration plate if possible or do others do it too? In the main it's more to avoid one I really don't want rather than to pick one I do want, although there's a gem in there to be chosen occasionally. I'm really pleased this time as my new one is going to be "WRC". Yes, i'm a big kid.

Maybe i'll continue to do it with old age becoming a factor. I think one option was or was close to the check they do before people can work with kids (no, not a BBC interview). Some others sounded vaguely rude and some just looked weird. WRC shone out so I grabbed it! Wonder how many are suspicious of the "13" plate?

You're not the only one, I got a list of about a dozen to choose from. All much of a muchness but it gave me a little bit more input. I'd chosen everything else about the car so it only seems right I get to choose that last detail

Never seen the attraction of a personalised or special plate myself, just take what the garage gives me but I do appreciate it's down to personal preference, rather like colour or choice of alloys.
What does get me is when people use the numberplate screws, spacing or some dodgey font to try and make the registration look like something it's not. Knew someone who had a Merc with the number P4 VLA - they had a black screw placed under the 4, the V rounded to look like a U and no space between the 4 and the V to make the plate read 'PAULA'

I like the comment on the DVLA registrations website, goes something like "if you intend to buy to misrepresent the registration then we'd rather you didn't bother".
