Too many models BMW, I prefer the KISS method. Keep It Simple, Stupid

Quit wasting money trying to find the next Mini Cooper fad, get back to the basics and improve upon what you have. Leave the "watering down" to VW, Ford, GM, Dodge, etc...

Love all CC, CLS concept... etc. Come on guys, bring us a pure design breed!

BMW 3CS or CSi got my vote.

Because the sedan would have to sacrifice some utility in order to gain those racy coupe aesthetics.

So much negativity in this thread. I can't understand why people are so dead-set against BMW increasing their offerings, branching into new segments, and competing against their counterparts from Audi and Mercedes. A 4 series GC and M4 GC will look absolutely amazing, and give you more utility than the classic two door coupe. What's not to like? Even the 3GT has potential to be a looker. Is BMW just supposed to sit back and let Audi and Mercedes eat their lunch?

But AMS in this artikel also quoted the new F32 coupe as 4er!

I donīt think they would bring only the CG as 4er ... if they bring an 4er name this make only sence for more than on model ... so if an 4er model line comes than for all coupes and the convertible ( like the 6er! ) ... but the big problem is the "Mythos M3" it wouldnīt be easy to transform the M3 mythos the an new M4 and let the M3 lable die ... specially when there is no M3 F30 sedan to fill the gap.

I think these plan about "4er Reihe" cames after the cancelation of the F30 M3 sedan ... an also by the E9x models there were early planings to devide the x9x in 3er and 4er models to bring coupe and convertible pricier regions ... this plan was canceled because of the M3 lable ... although an E90 M3 sedan was allready in the planings.

So I think BMW, will drops this 4er planing again (or must change their decision about the F30 M3 )

If the car reaches production it will be called 3er Gran Coupe "GC".
To provide continuity with the forthcoming 6er Gran Coupe which you will see in a year.

I do not think the 4 will be used.

They can call it whatever they want - just bring it BMW!

I still think the GC presents an ideal opportunity for BMW to justify a 4 series though, so if it comes to market I think that name still has a chance to be used. It would definitely give BMW more flexibility with respect to justifying a higher MSRP. For example, certainly the 6 GC will be priced much higher than the 5 sedan (probably close to the 6 coupe, if I were to guess). Mercedes uses the same strategy with the CLS vs. the E class sedan. Of course, as a consumer, I would obviously like to see it priced as low as possible.

Well, just look how they created the X6 name for one model instead of just calling the X6 the "X5 GT" or something like that. Same for the original 6 series coupe as well. It could just as easily have been called a 5 coupe (there was no convertible back then).

I agree this is a problem which is why, at least for the foreseeable future, they would definitely keep the 3/M3 coupe/convertible named as they are today.
