Getting dealer to buy back a car

I'm thinking of getting rid of my 335d.

Its 10 months old and I was wondering if anyone has had any success in getting a dealer to buy their car without having to purchase another one.

Any advice or experiences is appreciated.

My supplying dealer aren't interested due to excess stock.

Have you tried other dealers? I would think one of them would be willing to buy it, but how much it will cost you will depend upon how big a discount you got when you bought it and how much deposit you put in, your monthly payments etc.

With all the threads showing big discounts on 335Ds this is bound to have a knock-on affect to trade-in prices, and wriggle room a dealer has when spending time putting a 2nd hand car through the workshop and books and onto the forecourt - especially as a brand new one will be so close in price, without any of the bother.

Indeed this is correct Dave.

I got £10k off my 335d. There are still these discounts available at present.

Makes shifting it all the more difficult.

Another route is one of the webuy websites at a push?

Can't see them doing you an favour though & they will only underwrite to a dealer.

Best bet is to ring around all the dealers starting closest to you until you get a bite.

Or Pistonheads & sell private but that is a whole new game!!

Yes i do want another car buddy. Just dont want to be restricted to BMW only.

There are some super cheap lease deals at the moment which would bring the monthly payments down by a considerable amount.

I sold my e92 to a dealer in 2008 a few months before the market went into melt down (much more luck than judgement on my part though)

I wanted a quick sale and got what I thought a fair price at the time but obviously lower than selling privately. I was happy with that though because I couldn't be arsed with messing about.

It took a fair bit of phoning around on my part and there quite some differences between the offers that various dealers made.

I have noticed in the Bmw site there is a tab that says "let us value your bmw" perhaps that might be worth a go but I suspect they may just forward the enquiry to your local dealer.

Best of luck let us know how you get on.

In early September you were thinking the same, then in late September you were considering getting the full M Performance kit, now you're thinking about getting rid of the car again!

By the end of this month you'll be keeping the car and planning a full M3 conversion!

Daz, I did this exact thing back in October.

I paid £38k for my 335d, on a 3 year PCP. I picked it up in Jan 14 and gave it back in Oct 14. My settlement was around £36k and the price I got was £32.5k. I had to stump up £3.5k to get rid. No one was interested in buying it back due to stock levels being high. I got lucky as I had a distant (very) relative that worked for BMW, so was able to get a decent offer on the table. I then used the offer to get my dealer (Barrons Farnborough) to buy it off of me. They ended up moving it to Brighton as a stock car.

I was paying £650pcm for my 335d, as I went into the deal with around £2k neg equity on my previous E92 320d. So in real terms, I was around £1.5k down.

I am now paying £250pcm for a Focus ST, and can honestly say I could not be happier. I do occasionally miss my 335d, but for my circumstances, it was not worth the monthly outlay.

You will find it hard to get rid and get a decent price. There is no way around it that I can see. My best advice is call around several dealers, as they might have someone looking for a 335d (if you are lucky!).

You could also put it on Autotrader and see how it goes. What ever you do it will be painful, and I am guessing will end up in a loss. But the monthly savings on the lease may make it worth while.

Good luck!

Maybe it's the flying man with the cape and pants outside colour combo that's making it hard to shift
